WSOP organisation published the 2018 WSOP program a few hours on their website before erasing it, but some people had the reflex to take screenshots

Obviously no guarantee that this program is definitive....

No way they are dumb enough to start the Main on July 4th. It has to start the week after. They will lose ~500 players, myself included if they did this. Family>Poker...

Yes. Day 1C as well. There also seems to be too many events after the main event which is something they have never done before. That schedule seems shaky.

In the past, out of country players desired a heads up as to when were the events in order to plan and schedule plane, etc.. this "leak" appears to be European and does give a heads up, perhaps... ? lol

Wonder if it's a prank. Giant and Colossal running at the same time seems unlikely.

I agree nothing is certain, but I’m not sure we should dismiss the idea of the ME event being held over the holiday. In years past it was always just after the holiday.

And, the poker scene in Vegas in the summer really tends to die down by the time the Main Event starts. Bank-rolls run dry, people can’t afford to stay that long, etc. I agree that some might find it difficult to play over the holiday. But I imagine this would not affect foreign players at all and may even incentivize some folks in the US to come out to play or qualify since they will have an extra day off.

It’s hard to tell from the screenshot, but isn’t the Giant an event with like 10 starting flights over the course of a month?

the giant was held every friday or sat for the month of June until they combined all the flights similar to Aria 500 tourney.

Right, so while it isn't necessarily easy to deduce from the screenshot, I don't think we should assume it will be held at the same time as Colossus, as someone proposed.

Giant is only one day, too. Wasn't it multiple fridays last year?

Schedule most likely preliminary and details missing that they didn't put b c d e etc flights. Like Milly maker only shows one day.

Talking with people while playing at the Venetian yesterday, a lot of people seem to think it's legit. I still have my doubts. The several post main event events is what is weird to me

I think the weirdest part would be the main being on a Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, as well as one of the starting days being on 4th of July. The addition of more postlims wouldn't be as shocking since they already have had the little one for one drop as a postlim.

WSOP has been trying to neutralize Day 1A player fields for years, even surveyed to see if a discount would change player's schedule. Scheduling 1C on the holiday does not seem like a stretch and would probably balance the fields more proportionally.

The numbers seem to have disagreed with you, even if YOU skipped it. Appears to have been the largest turnout since 2006.

What I AM curious about is whether the massive turnout on Day 1C even with it being a holiday gives rise to a return to a Day 1D. More likely is they evaluate for a few years to see if this year was an anomaly or whether poker, in fact, is not dead.

I was intrigued to see that in the record field of 2006, there was still only a single entry day. I'd forgotten that, having gotten used to the multi-flight arrangement. Given that the Rio/WSOP can deal with really large single day fields, and since Day 1A is always so small (and the final Day 1 always so large) I was actually wondering if the organizers might decide to go to only 2 Day 1s.

While playing the Senior event this year I was told that the Rio can handle a max of 6,000 runners for a tournament at one time.

Huh? There were multiple Day 1s in 2006, I played Day 1C. I remember having to select my starting day when I won my seat on Stars.
