The downstairs tournament area is incredibly uncomfortable -- both the chairs and tables are the cheap insta-tourney equipment. It was particularly annoying to sit in them tonight when there were enough (comfy, plush) tables and chairs upstairs to house the entire field of Day 1A and only a single table of silly 2-100SL running. I hope they at least put Day 2 upstairs. I imagine they figure 1B may be too big to fit all upstairs. Still, plenty of other poker rooms put some tables in the main room during big tournament times and overflow the rest to the crappy tables.

I agree, the downstairs tourney area is very uncomfortable.

How many players were there for Day 1 on Friday?

Played last night in flight 1A. They had 96 players. I busted in level 13, QQ<AK on a QT72....J board, ouch. Would go back today, but have family obligations.

Agree the chairs were kind of lame, tables lacked padding, and half of the dealers that made frequent mistakes. But overall this tournament was excellent, and impressive for the inaugural run. I wouldn't complain about using the temporary tournament area instead of the main room. They are demonstrating they can accommodate tourneys and cash games. Chips were nice, tables clean, and people were friendly. Had a guy from the restaurant come down and take orders 20 minutes before dinner break. Just a small example of a nice touch. Run very professionally, and the structure was world class. They said they'd be back in April, and I'll be there for sure.

Did you notice how many people were left when you busted out?

One minor suggestion to improve it next time around if the staff is reading this.....

30K in chips to start with only 4 $25 green chips. I think this shortage of $25 chips really slowed down the levels with $25 & $50 antes. Double up the green chips to 8 per starting stack. The green color up happened after level 8, so I don't think it bog down the color up much at all.

When I busted, I think it was about 1:00 am, and there were 36'ish left. They said they were playing 16 levels or down to 20 players, whichever came first.

Thought the play was mixed. In my mind, 6 of the 9 players at my table at the end of the night were very solid.

Played down to 20 runners from 96 on day 1A. This was about 2:15am
Finished midway through level 20.

Oops meant midway through level 16. There will be like 27 minutes left in level 16 when we return Sunday. So day 1B will play till level 16 at the 27 minute mark

How was the play in general? I would have thought they'd have maxed out the 200 players on Friday. I thought about playing but couldn't justify buying in since my roll is tied up on FTP..

Final tabled the 300+34 on Thursday and the play was pretty laughable.

Early play was a lot easier as there were some soft spots, as night progressed especially after dinner things got significantly tougher, had to really choose your spots wisely. I took two horrendous beats of the runner runner variety, bt still managed to limp into Day 2.

Overall, pre & post flop play was solid, with folks definitely utilizing position wisely.

Definitely not the HPT shove fest that took place at Golden Gates.

Day 2 of HPT was short and not so sweet, 3rd hand had pocket JJ ran into QQ, no one time and I was out! :-(

Plan is to run better tomorrow, although I'm starting with about 15 BB

Anyone have the number of runners that entered Day 1B??

Looks like 111. so, total of 207 and $310,500. First place will be just over $90K.

Disappointing turnout after the prelims did so well, but this was still a great tournament for blackhawk, the structure was worlds better than hpt/anything at the gates. there were a few less than stellar dealers, but for part time hires these were some of the best dealers i've experienced, there are worse dealers that work in town full time.

the floors need some more experience with the rules tho, saw a couple bad rulings on simple matters, one of which was truly awful.

oh yea and the tables/chairs were awful, as was playing 10 handed all the way through.

Anyway to look up results for this event?

Pretty disappointing that the WPT doesn't liveblog or at least provide basic updates about these regional events.

ship ship da chips...the youngens outlasted me after i refused a chop 3 times. as im old, i got tired and decided to agree to a chop 3 handed after 3 barrelin 4 high (successfully : ) ) i figured before i got outta control + caught id take a nice pay day of $67,000.

oversall, great tourney, and for a 1st event they did a helluva job running it. kudos to the Isle staff.
