I got my 2003 jacket in 2003 at the gift shop at the Horseshoe (it was called the Horseshoe then), when it used to be on the 2nd floor. That was the first year I played in a WSOP event - $1500 7-card stud.

I forgot to take a jacket with me to Vegas, and at night it got kind of cool that year, so I went to the gift shop to find something, and all they had were these gawdy WSOP jackets. I figured, what the hell - it will be a souvenir from my first WSOP.

I have a poker buddy that lives in Vegas. When he saw me wearing the jacket he said "You look like a f***ing tourist." I replied back "Well, I am a f***ing tourist."

That ended up being the last year that the Horseshoe had those jackets made.

Thats a good story!

Ive never been to the wsop but i want to play the $1500 7 stud hi one day. That would be such a cool bracelet to win.

I hope 7 stud doesnt go the way of 5 stud. It appears to be headed in that direction tho.

I learned on 7 stud at the bike in los Angeles in early 2000's. Love that game.

I keep hoping 7-stud will make a comeback, but it's not likely. I used to play 10-20 and 15-30 stud (occasionally higher) in the 90's in Chicago and in Vegas at the Mirage and the Bellagio. Now it seems you either find 7-stud live games at limits of either 1-5, or 50-100. Not enough player base to warrant running a medium limit game.

The last 5 years I have been going out during the series and getting my stud fix by playing stud-type tournaments at Binion's.

Last year I played a stud tournament at Planet Hollywood, and there was this young guy in the game from Canada - probably about 25 yrs old. He said he loved stud - very atypical for a young player these days.

Excellent! Nice to see a young player that appreciates an old school game. Maybe we'll see you out there this summer.

Three or four years ago when I was out there, Binion's had a 10-20 Triple Stud cash game. Triple stud is Stud hi, Stud 8 or better and Razz, where you play 8 hands of each game. Eight hands of stud, followed by 8 hands of Stud 8 etc.

Barbara Enright - a Las Vegas legend - sat in the game for a while. It was a great experience.

I'll be out the 9th-12th playing in mainly Stud/8 events. If i have some time I'll try to play cash too. Not sure what WSOP has now...last time I was there they had a 15/30 game.

Most recently made it to Vegas and was able to play Stud/8 $1500 WSOP a few years ago. Was fun because of the big names you get to go against in such a "regular" tournament. Had Mike Sexton to the table next to me, Johnathan Duhamel at a table to my right. My table had Allen Cunningham and the legend Artie Cobb. Eventually Barbara Enright got pulled over to our table as well. I was running well and looking like a Day 2 lock until Level 8. Had Barbara Enright dead to rights....I was drawing to a better low and had her beat on the high through sixth street. Unfortunately I bricked and she caught a second pair on the final card to double up through me and put me way under average stack.

That's a cool story. I played the $1500 Stud-8 2 years ago, but went out on day 1 also. Like you say, it's fun to meet and play with some of the more recognizable names in poker.

I met Artie Cobb 2 years ago playing in a Stud 8 event at Binion's and had a chance to chat with him while he was at my table.

I stopped by on the 5th and there was no FLO8 event. They explained that because they mistakenly scheduled their event on same day as GN's $250 FLO8 event, there were only 8 runners at starting time, so they agreed to just go over to GN.

I think they said there were 50+ runners for HORSE and 70+ runners for PLO8, but don't quote me on that.
