I don't know all the details, but I do have a few dates:

River Rock Casino, Richmond, BC (suburb of Vancouver)

British Columbia Poker Championships

Nov 19-21 12:00pm $550 No Limit Hold'em
Nov 22-23 12:00pm $1100 No Limit Hold'em
Nov 24 12:00pm $200 Super Satellites
Nov 25-28 12:00pm $2700 No Limit Hold'em - 4 Day Event

Single Table Satellites are starting up as of October 1 on demand with 1 and two winner options for the $1100 and $2700 events.

Also starting on Sunday August 1st they are running super satellites every Sunday alternating $120 (for $1100, 1 for 10) and $200 (for $2700, 1 for 15).

As always the tournament is a good one and their main event typically gets 600+ so a decent size.

I am guessing the $550 is two starting days and finishing up with survivors on the Sunday. The $1100 is definately a two day event and the $2700 is 4 days with everyone starting together on the Thursday same as last year (but unlike previous years when they had two starting flights).

Here's the only online link I can find: http://www.riverrock.com/files/PDF/c...ker-August.pdf

If anyone has more details please post them.

DK

I mean I know that, but it's right across the border and I'd imagine at least 20% of the possible field would be Americans...

Yah I thought it was odd too. I am Canadian but live in Seattle and talking with the Seattle crowd it doesn't seem like it is going to deter too many from making the trip up. For myself it's awesome as I dont need to take any holidays off for this one.

But I DO think they probably just never even considered when American Thanksgiving was. The last 4 years it has always been the weekend before American Thanksgiving. I think they are making a bit of a mistake doing it that weekend and will likely lose 30-40 people that would have played the Main Event, but that will be about it. The majority of player are Canadians and they come from all over Canada so those players will still be there.

Just wish they'd considerd it

i honestly doubt they'll lose any players and would guess the pool of players will be bigger than last year for sure, poker in canada keeps growing, easy to get money on and off line, no taxes for most...

it would be nice i'm sure, but you can't really expect a canadian tournament to take another countries holiday into heavy consideration for their scheduling can you?

last year was the only year it want on Thanksgiving weekend. Every year before was two day ones. One on TG, the other on Black Friday, with day 2 and 3 over the weekend.

Agreed....I think US based attendance would be somewhere from 5-10 % based on exprerience.

Problem is, if they put a week earlier, they would be competing with NAPT LA, which would probably hurt attendance (not sure by how much though).

Meh, still the best annual tourney in Canada to date.

If someone finds a schedule for main event, I would love to see it. Just want to make sure it is 2 day 1s, as usual. It Usually has day one on Thanksgiving day, and another Day one the day after Thanksgiving

Last year there was only 1 day 1 for the main event. Not sure if they're planning on changing that this year.

they will definitely lose a lot of players. Mostly from just across the border.

Was much better with 2 day ones. Last year wasnt during TG, so they didnt need to do that.

They didn't have 2 day 1's in 2008. I won my seat on Wed. and played day one on Thurs.

Is there a schedule for satellites? I want to play a couple satties but I'm a 3-4 hour drive away so it's gotta be a trip. Unless they run some in the BC interior area (I'm in Kamloops).

edit: nvm it's at http://www.riverrock.com/bcpc/
