btw i think this is awesome:

Quote:

May 9 - Monday
12:00 5 Main Event Day 2 €10,000 + €600
12:00 11 NL - Turbo - Bounty €500 + €500 + €50
17:00 12 NL - Holdem - "8 Max" - Day 1 €5,000 + €250
18:00 13 NL - Holdem - Day 1 €1,000 + €100
21:00 14 NL - Turbo €300 + €30
kinda sucks to be on a monday (we grind online yo), but I like the idea of a turbo early in a day, then a 5pm/6pm option as quoted to let us play a full day of live donkaments without the sadness of having only one shot in a day.

and hey if it all goes kaput we get to turbo turbo a 330e

Problem is having it at the end of the series, a lot of people/fish usually leave once they bust the main. Having it in the middle of the main hurts since everyone came to play the main regardless. So you have to have it post-main or pre-main and tbh pre is prob best in terms of field size/softness.

I think it is because it is a televised event and they also need the TV table for the main event.

I expected to see some mixed games tourneys in the schedule (altough I never play those) so I'm very pleased with it

Answers -

San Remo Schedule - Should be going up on Friday. One signature and we're done.

EPT Awards - Remaining qualifying events - Two Heads Up tourneys (Berlin, Madrid), three PLO tourneys (1 Berlin, 2 Madrid), two Mix Game tourneys (San Remo, Madrid). All three Awards still up for grabs!

Tufat - 226 - I agree 100% (sorry about the Monday). This is what happens when they give me 100 plus tables to play with!

9's - 227 - Season 8 for your Ante tourney. It is awkward sometimes to push new stuff through Gaming Commisions. For Madrid, if the 25K was at the end, you are forcing players into a tough spot with the 25K on the 14th in Vegas. I try and be as helpful as I can when I can

Spacey - 229 - Again, some of my mixed stuff isn't legal yet in Spain. It is really hard to explain to Gaming Commisions what "Fiple Draw" and "Binglaha" are

Cheers,

Neil

That's a pretty good tease. Any idea on a time frame for a Season 8 schedule to be released?

My fingers are crossed for EPT Madrid for the announcement. But I'm not holding my breath either

One of the new destinations everyone will definitely love! I think everyone will like the others, but one I am very excited about!

I hope Tallinn is not in danger. I know it was a new event, but at 420 players, I figured it was a success. Not to mention the fact that Pokerstars is actually licensed in Estonia. I had a chance to visit Tallinn after WSOPE and fell in love with the town, and hope to plan a long trip to Europe around EPT Tallinn.

NeilJ I have a question about the random bounty tournaments. I'd like to know, how exactly does Stars prevent cheating happening in these? When I was in Deauville, there was a 60 yo casino regular who was friends with the floor staff, and he got 3/3 1k bounties. Me and my group of friends (about 10 people) probably got about 30 bounties total but none of our bounties were bigger than the minimum. I never saw anyone but the french casino regs win the big bounties despite making it pretty deep and playing in a bunch of tables. Of course this can be coincidental but it's a pretty big coincidence, and especially in France it's definitely fishy.

What was bugging me was that I asked the floormen how this system works and how they decide who gets 1k and who gets 200, and they said "I can't tell you". When the live reg got his 3rd consecutive 1k bounty and the floor staff congratulated him, I asked to see the list the floor guy was holding, which I assume had some kind of info about whose bounty is 1k and whose is 200. He refused to show it to me. I said that I'm not trying to find out whose bounty is worth what, can you just show me any kind of printed confirmation that the bounty this guy again got was worth indeed 1k, can you just show me that one line of text please? They said no and hastily ran away with the paper.

At the time I didn't think much of it, because I figured Pokerstars would be pretty careful about who they choose as their staff. But since I have recently learned that Pokerstars doesn't actually have anything to do with the people who run their tournaments, I've come to think that there could easily be some bad apples in the local floormen who favour the local players. This is probably not an issue in the main with Thomas Kremser and all, but the side events are often run by random local floormen who I first thought were still somehow working for Stars but apparently not then!

With EPT San Remo happening soon and the Italians along with the French being notorious for cheating in every possible way I'd really like to hear how you're preventing any cheating from happening. If I suspect something fishy is going on, who should I talk to, since every time I'm being screwed over in a Pokerstars tournament your staff a) denies any responsibility and b) doesn't even communicate with me?

I witnessed dealers screwing people over pretty hard in a Unibet Open Italy a couple of years back, they didn't have anything to do with Unibet either, just local casino staff who rigged the decks when people were on break and dealt crazy setups in the favour of the locals, not shuffling the deck after the break in front of people. You probably don't want this happening in your tournaments.

(To those who don't know how random bounties work, they work like this: in for example a 1100€ random bounty tournament, it's 800 (prize pool) +200 (bounty pool) +100 (rake). The bounty pool is randomized in a way that some people's bounties are worth 1000 and the most people's are worth 200. You never know whose bounty is worth what, when you bust out someone you get a receipt, and when you show that receipt to a floor man he will just tell you how much your bounty is worth)
03-25-2011 , 03:49 PM
Hi Chuck,

One correction to your explanation. The 200 Bounty is chopped 100 on everyone and 100 into the pool to make the 1K's.

I was at EPT Deauville and participated in the draw for the Random Bounty Tournaments. The way it works is once registration closes (2 levels in - 30 min) we look at total number of runners.

For this example, 76 players. This would create seven 1K bounties and a single €600 bounty. All players were given a bounty card as they sat down numbered 1-X for total number of players. We then draw from a duplicate number of cards 1-X for the random bounty numbers. First seven drawn are the 1K's, the eighth is the 600. These eight numbers are placed on a list carried by the floor person in charge of the event. In addition to this, the eight numbers are placed individually into envelopes numbered 1-8 (for this example). If player #17 was 1K bounty number 4 and you busted player #17, we would say congratulations and hand you the envelope marked number four and ask you to open it. You would then open the envelope to find the #17 written on the inside. This is done to protect the players and the integrity of the event. I know that was done in Deauville because I am the one who wrote up the envelopes and I was the one who wrote down the numbers as they were drawn. I also helped a floor guy by handing two envelopes out to players.

If you witness anything "fishy" as you say, in Italy, you can always speak to Thomas Kremser and if you feel really concerned, I am at every EPT in a suit and tie and easy to find. We take any kinds of collusion, soft play, etc... seriously and are always willing to listen to players who have those types of concerns. If you are concerned about dealing with local casino staff, you can always go right to the top at our tours with Thomas in EPT, Danny in APPT, Mike at PCA/LAPT/NAPT, etc...

--------------

On a side note - I am aware of your ANZPT thread and forwarded it on. I have nothing to do with the ANZPT and can't comment on anything that took place there.

All of the PS reps that comment on 2+2 do everything they can to help out the 2+2 Community to the best of their ability. We all have specific areas we work in and can't comment outside those areas. There are at times issues we miss or can't fix, or, quite frankly, there are issues that can only be sorted by emailing support@ or security@ or registrations@, etc... so we don't even bother commenting on them. Our posts and work on 2+2 are never intended and should never be construed to replace the actual PokerStars channels of communication.

Thanks NeilJ, that's a good answer and I'd like to encourage you to use the envelopes in the future. That was not the case in Deauville though, at least I didn't witness a single envelope being used, they just told the people who's got a 1k bounty and who doesn't and I witnessed quite a lot of bustouts. This was the 1100 turbo bounty on the night of day 1B.
