ANZPT Adelaide is only a day away and it seems like its going to be a decent event. 300 runners or so at a $2.4k buyin along with a few side events. Its also the first time ive played a tourny of this size so hopefully it all runs well for me.

Anyone else who is playing and will be attending the players party send me a PM already got a few people interested in catching up for a beer in what is expected to be 40C (108f) heat

Going to chuck up a trip report tomorrow on my ANZPT it was great to make the jump into these bigish live events and other then losing the flip i felt i played some really good poker. Next event im going to push to be allowed to 30 table sngs well playing tho good the games go slow haha

Bogan4life plays his first ANZPT Event

So i decided it was time to make the scary step into high stakes live mtt's and felt where better to start then in Adelaide. Having not played regular live in over 18 months it was a bit of a culture shock at first.

I started with the Chris Bonoto $450 event and happened to be lucky enough to be on the same table as him (as previous winner he had a 1k bounty on his head) and the first thing i notice was how bad the play was. 5x raises pre flop, 5 limpers in to pots calling down with 3rd pair that sort of thing. I built a stack pretty nice and had a double up with AA vs A10. With a few manics on the table i sat back and waited a bit. With 38 or so left and top 10 paying i got dealt AKs raised 2.2x got 7xed by one of the manics so i shoved for my 15bb and ran into KK good game ldo.

Next off was the main event and i sit down and i see a table full of young online grinders and give a little sigh there goes the idea of feeding of the donks. Turns out we did have a few donks just not as many as i was hoping. Got talking to a yank who was sure he knew me from Vegas (turns out he was just a 4lifer reader who has seen my face 1 to many times) and we end up getting into a few epic battles including a blind vs blind special of me getting it all in with A2d vs 76d on a j8d5h board. With my heart in my mouth i see the 7 drop and stand up to leave only to hit my flush on the river!!! Bam head shot.

Spend the rest of the day grabbing a chip here or there and end up 4th in chips overnight. D2 comes along and im redrawn on the table of death which included MonsterDong. 2nd hand of the day i get 1010 open 2.2x and get called by Eric Seddle. Raise it to 4x on a 98h2 flop. Turn is 5 and i 7x it to be min which i flatted (probably should have laid it down here) river is the shocking 2h and knowing he is known for tightish play i lay down to his 27k river bet leaving me with about 50k when the table breaks.

Move tables and i drop another smallish pot before being dealt JJ with a raise ahead of me and a flat i shove over the top and get called by the BB who has AK and the rest fold. Of course the flop shows a King and its the end of my game. Its fair to say i was pretty pissed, not with how it ended or how it played more the fact i only last 15 hands into day two!!!


I met some great people on the trip and i felt i learnt more about my own game in the 4 days well there then i have over the past year. I always classed my self as a great reader of people and i felt i made some great calls and lay downs including QQ to a 4bet pre vs a nit who turned over AA. I felt that even vs the so called "live pros" i matched up fine against and would have no massive dramas vs most.

Congrats to Fritz on the final table and well done to Suited on the final 2 table cash lot better then how i ended. Hope to make it to Perth but ill 100% be there for ANZPT Sydney!!

Ended day 1 with 9k, an orbit into day 2 I doubled to 16k with AJ>K7s, then from 16k to 32k with AJs>AKs, then raised/3bet a bunch, then got up to 85k when AJ>QT on KT3Q board, all within the first level. Then at 600/1200 CO opened to 3100 with about 50k, I made it 7900 in SB with JTo, he flats quickly. Flop 775ddh, I bet 5500 he calls. Turn 9h I check, he bets about 10k, I shovel and he snaps with the 86o Can't decide who played it worse but whatever. Lost AK<JJ shortly after :'(
Decided not to play high rollers and regretted it when I heard about the field, but I won 7k online so was happy, then lost it all back today and was sad. Radelaiiiiiide.

Ill prob be missing Perth im not a big fan of flying for longer then a hour so unless i online qual my way in i wont be there but Sydney a 100% Ill try to organize another 2p2 meet up there (we did a 4life one in November) for big juice steaks and ice cold beer

Def not doing Perth because of uni but I'll 100% be playing Sydney unless I'm busto/dead!
