Franky, if a person does have a car, and sufficient status to get free parking at CET, and doesn’t mind driving a few blocks back and forth, RIO may make for a reasonable alternative to staying on the strip. With their “re-opening”, I imagine one can get pretty good discounts. Just be aware that traffic on the intersection of LVB and Flamingo was at times a compete **** show last year because of the F1 construction. Hope springs eternal that the powers that be learned some lessons and will figure out a way to avoid that this year. But my understanding is they will continue to have to do work to prepare for F1.
Well there's another reason to avoid staying at the Rio in June or July. Many of their rooms feature lengthy expanses of floor to ceiling windows. My experience was that the A/C was unable to deal with the solar heat entering, drapes or no drapes.

1, I stayed many times at Rio , and had no problem in the evening or night with A/C . And during day time I am playing some tournaments any way .

2, in order to maximize my comp room ( 5 nights at a time) I stayed at Gold Coast. Nothing special but price and next door to Rio was easy choice.

CET had killed it off, but sounded sort of non-committal about it, so it's possible it could be resurrected. Hyatt probably won't after it sees the books and how poorly the poker room performed. I liked playing there when they had promos running though.

They shouldn't be doing road work though, not in June. Knock wood.

Those are the nice rooms, it seems I hardly ever got those. But the key there is the a/c has motion sensors. So if it's hot and you have the idea to spend some time in the casino to let your room cool off, it won't work. Watch tv or surf your puter, just keep a magazine at hand to wave in the air when the a/c kicks off.

The work on the Flamingo/LVB intersection was supposed to be done in early June last year and lasted throughout the WSOP and beyond.

This year they say they have less work to do and it will only take 3 months instead of 9. Given that the race is toward the end of Nov, it would seem like they could start in late July (after the WSOP), and have enough time. But my guess is they won't risk it, and will once again do much of the work during the heart of summer. Knock wood, indeed, but I would count on a ****-show and be pleasantly surprised if there isn't one.

FWIW, when I was in LV in December, there was a ton of work being done in the area of the Cromwell/Grand Bazaar bridge for that new Blake Shelton place. It mostly affected foot traffic, but they also had all but one lane of LVB closed at times too. Again, complete ****-show traffic-wise.

i know this is a long shot, but......

i'm looking for 1 or more players who may be driving to/from WSOP 2024 from texas and wanting to stay around 2 weeks or so. i am driving out there due to fear of flying & medical issues, and need another person(s) to drive with. i (42m) will be staying with a buddy of mine (25m), at horseshoe. we are chill, no partying on the strip, no slots/pits, just focus on poker during trip like real poker junkies. we have gone for a few years now and really enjoy the series. mostly cash players, with some tournaments mixed in. if you want to room with us, that would make it cheaper for everyone (if not, that's cool).

i have made the drive for many years now. it's a 2-day drive, ~10 hours per day. but maybe can make it a super long 1-day drive with myself and 1 or 2 more people to split driving. obviously we would need to meet beforehand, make sure we get along. will be using my vehicle (roomy, nice 4-door truck). i will eat most gas expenses, since this would primarily be accommodating me.

right now, looking at leaving ~May 29-returning ~June 12. but can be flexible. PM me if interested. looking to get booked soon.
