Is it true the WSOP schedule may be release before the end of the month? I saw from a google search it could be released before end of month but wondering if any truth to this?

Also will I be punished if I reserve mgm hotel later near series? I assume yup due to supply/demand. It’s kinda rough bc I need Venetian schedule and others before I book bc I do most play non wsop but may fire a few bullets at WSOP events that fit my buying and structure criteria (might play monster stack or a 6max if I deem structure worth it).

I checked mgm and booking now is great for comp rooms but it’s just way too soon without schedules out ugh. I will prolly go around Juneteenth or July 4 to use extra work vacation day as a bonus day I can use for a longer trip. I’ll prolly go a week and a half. I hope it goes better than past 2 years- I cashed in 1/30 mtts last year and went 0 for like 20 prior year even though I’ve been killing live scene in the northeast. Tournament variance can be a bitch- I plan to be more professional this year where I try to focus on more sleep and less booze even though I’m on vacation.

It is best to book early and lock in a price, you can always change it later if the price comes down. Me and a friend booked rooms in July of 2023 for this year (2024) at Horseshoe from 6/6 - 6/28 and 7/3-12, all comped rooms except for a couple of weekend days. I still haven't seen a lower price than we booked (We are both Diamond+). When the schedule comes out and we finalize the dates we are going it's simple to cancel the dates we don't need.

Do you get charged money if you book some rooms and then cancel if you change your mind? I may or may not go. If I do, I might not want to stay the whole week if I bust out of the tournament early.

No charge as long as you cancel 72 hours before check-in. As far as booking say for a week, busting out and leaving after 3 days, I have no idea about that.

Wow thanks for saying this

So let me get this straight. Can I book now say a week and a half. And either change my dates or cancel a week or two before and not be on the hook? I’ll probably book when the WSOP schedule comes out so I can book around when I wanna play a tourny- prolly monster stack.

As long as you are booking direct thru the Caesars website if you cancel 48 hours prior to your arrival date you get a full refund (couple squirrely exceptions for the Superbowl) .

Book your best guess for dates and just change your reservations once the WSOP schedule comes out either online or I have had very good luck just calling the Casino (Horseshoe or RIO ) in the past and them working with me. No guarantee for the rates but they always did me fair. Best guess for the Monster would be June 14 and 15th 2024 starting days so take your 8 day shot accordingly

That is correct as long as you book through Caesars website/app, if you book through a 3rd party website (Priceline, Expedia...) that will not be the case. Depending on the rate you get from Caesars there may be an upfront "deposit" that you'll pay now, but as long as you cancel ahead of time 48-72 hours (I have seen both) that will be refunded.

I REALLY need them to drop the schedule soon! I haven’t put in for my official PTO request because I wanted to see the dates,

And I have coworkers already asking for time in June. I don’t want to be last!

Same- I have one other person on my team at work that does my job and she started requesting time off: I was getting worried she would ask for too much time off in June which would kinda hurt my wsop plans.

Anyone know if mgm is good about switching dates if I book early. I plan to take a week and a half off. Anyone have thoughts on what mtts they want to target? I want to target the monster stack bc I can fire 2 bullets at a $1500 with a great structure and solid payout for a final table. I would love to play some of the smaller mtts also if dates work well- colussus is a **** show but structure is solid plus allows for a few bullets + the $500 salute to soldiers. Honesty I hate the $800 2 days events and some of the small stuff because they are honestly lottery tickets.

I wish I was a baller that could easily play a $3k wsop and not care if I busted. The 6max looks great and some of the other 3ks. I’m probably going to try and focus on $1100/ $1500/ and $800 if any exist at Venetian. I love the ultimate stack events that have multiple flights and a day 2- I honestly think they are the best value in vegas + sometimes the fields aren’t gigantic so final tabling one isn’t as unlikely as a 2k+ wsop event.

I work for myself, so I can take time off whenever I want, but even I am getting increasingly impatient. I want to make my reservations already. I don't get the point of dragging out the release of the schedule.

I've already made Horseshoe reservations with the idea that I can always cancel and rebook. My assumptions for the WSOP? Mystery Bounty flight 1A Weds 29th May. Monster Stack flight 1A Friday the 14th of June. That would be consistent with last year's schedule.

There are a lot of logistics that go into these things and I'm sure there are any number of behind-the scenes issues which might cause a delay in release. That being said, this year the key dates schedule will be released a lot later than in recent memory. My personal conspiracy theory based on nothing but my belief in the power of spite, is they want to hold off releasing the schedule as long as possible to prevent the WPT from swooping in and trying to hold a competing event or two. It's not likely that, but this explanation is a lot more fun than anything else I can think of.

Anyhow, as others have mentioned, you can go ahead and make blanket hotel reservations at little (or even no) cost and then change them, if necessary, when the schedule comes out. It's not ideal, of course. But we are all at the mercy of the poker gods and their profits who run the WSOP.

I booked the Horseshoe 17-24 June. Hoping the Seniors event is that week like it has been previous years. I didn't wait for the schedule as I was able to book that week with comps and didn't want to risk the comp offer expiring.

My theory is that the WSOP people were too busy flogging the details of their new Paradise series to tend to their knitting regarding the WSOP in Vegas. Last time they dropped a preliminary schedule on Dec 12th. This time they promised early January and it is approaching the end of January. I thought it might drop today, the 22nd. No such luck.

Just booked for $116 at the Horseshoe per day. Then it said if I got a caesars membership I'd get an even better deal. During the process of creating an account the price jumped up to $123 per day for some reason. I guess the room prices can be volatile? I booked from July 5 until July 9. I figure if I make it past day 4 I'll be able to extend my stay since I'll already be in the money. Not sure if this is a mistake though, because all the rooms might be booked and I'd be chilling on the street. At the same time, I'd rather not have a bunch of days at a hotel if I bust out of the tourney early and want to go home.

Should I extend my stay now, or wait until after I make the money?

Typically it makes sense to book and leave early. BUT candidly a LOT of rooms become available after July 8th so your chance of sleeping on the street is pretty minimal. I'd still book now since there are many events that run during the Main around town if things don't go your way.

I always wait till the whole schedule is out , generally in first week of February.

I know I am not that good in finding cheapest room deal . But I need to have whole schedule in front of me as I always do 2 trips ( one in the start of WSOP and one covering Senior and Main. )

With my past experiences , I never had to worry about not getting room after the schedule comes out.

Single Table Satellites. Bring 'em back!

Last year I found myself so often not having fun. I got skunked, which is easy to do with only mtt's.

That's better than waiting in the registration line only to find out the event has been canceled. I don't app but maybe I can ask someone who does.

The schedule is out!

https://www.wsop.com/2024/2024-WSOP-...pdf?t=20240216

For the Main Event, do you get to choose which day you want? (Day A, B, C, or D). If so, I wonder if there is a strategic advantage to a specific day over another.

You can choose your starting day. Or you can even buy directly into day 2.

As for which is best, I think a players only strategy should be to choose the starting flight which works best with their preferred schedule. By far the biggest factor in success or failure will be table draw, which a player has no control over.

I used to think that and I started mostly on Day 1A. Then I got sick and had to wait to Day 1D to play. And now there is no going back. The field is for some reason worse on Day 1D. And it matters for Day 2 as well. So that's my day moving forward.

The 1D field may have more people who satellite in, but I don't know if that makes it worse. And it doesn't change the fact that your table draw matters a whole lot more than the general makeup of the field. People get way too hung up on which field is best or worst. If somebody can provide empirical proof of one day being better than another, I am all ears. But I don't think such a thing exists.

If playing 1D works best with your schedule and how you want to deal with days off, extended play, etc, then of course, choose day 1D.

The last starting flight of any tournament is for the out of town rec players on a budget who don't want to burn hotel nights unnecessarily. We arrive the day before that last flight, check in, wander around soaking up the WSOP ambience, hopefully get a decent night's sleep and then hope like hell that we will play well and run good on this last starting flight day. That's been my mode of operation. It would be for the Main Event too if I ever get the bankroll and gumption to play that.
