I'm guessing they'll drop some of the major event dates during WSOP-P, which seems doomed to be a train wreck.

I don't have major wishes or suggestions for WSOP24. Considering the scale of the event, I actually think WSOP does a good job in general. The events usually run without too many logistical issues and the schedule has a good mix of variants at different budgets. Any gaps in the WSOP schedule can usually be filled by something at Wynn/Venetian/Aria/Orleans/etc. There aren't many days where I can't find something good to play.

I suppose I'd like to see more/better satellite options now that the STTs are dead, but I don't expect that to happen. Live satellites are tough due to inconsistent demand and low profitability. I'd say more online satties are needed, but WSOP.com just doesn't get the traffic that you'd see on PokerStars back in the day. I'm not sure the player pool is big enough to sustain a huge number of satellite offerings.

I guess if we're talking long-term changes, we can discuss the $10k entry fee for the Main and whether it should finally be increased. IMO the size of the player pool has gotten stupid and turned the event into a massive lottery. However, I think they're also afraid to change it since it's their marquee event. There are plenty of high roller tournaments throughout the year to scratch the itch for people who just want to watch the "best of the best". Those are the spiritual successor of the original WSOP Main, which was a prestigious, high stakes, small field event. Now the Main Event is kind of like the high stakes equivalent of the $11 PokerStars Sunday lotto. Insane field size with crazy payouts at the top, but a bit clowny and unserious. It's a farce as a "world championship", but still a compelling spectacle.

Yeah, but it is still what every recreational player aspires to. I hope this is the year I get to play it. Don't have that many years left.

I am wondering about the Million Dollar Bounty tournament in 2024. I know they like to bracket the weekends for these high attendance events so they can maximize room revenue, charging premium for Fri and Sat nights. In 2023 Flight 3A for this bounty was on Weds 5/31, putting flights 3C/3D on 6/02, 6/03 Fri and Sat. In 2024 06/01 is a Saturday. If that were 3D, like last year's Sat was then 3A would have to be on May 29 ... but isn't that earlier than they've ever started an open-to-the-public tournament? My conclusion is that we should not expect the Million Dollar Bounty the first weekend. Comments?

Not certain about this--but the WSOP will likely start earlier in 2024, as memorial day is earlier in 2024 than most recent years.

So it would map out:
-The employees event on that first tuesday after Memorial Day, May 28th.
-TOC and likely 1500 dealers choice on Wednesday the 29th. along with a mystery bounty flight.
-so on and so forth.
