Parx Casino holds their first World Poker Tour Regional tournament series in March with a $460+40 tournament with a $40,000 guarantee their main event

More details sure to come, no info on Parx's site, with the WPT.com page only giving the dates and buy-in.

Looks like a fun affordable series for lower stakes grinders. Guar's could obv be higher but I'm a fan of the actual schedule.

Pretty disappointed to see this after months of speculation of a nice WPT regional at Parx. I mean, you guys hosted a 2k this past year and got a decent turnout, not sure why you wouldn't make your ME at least a 1k or something? and FWIW, a 40k guarantee on a 500 buyin w/ re-entries is extremely weak...

Yeah, this is a real disappointment.

I hope when they get a real WPT event its not like a $750 re-entry with like a $70k guar. I have never seen a WPT regional main event buy-in this low or even close to this low..what gives?

Beats me why these philly/NJ casinos cant do a 1.5-2K buyin tourney every alternate month like the borgata.

If the Borgata is able to guarantee $300K they should be able to match a similar guarantee right? Sure they dont have the brand equity of the Borgata but being right at the outskirts of Philly/NJ should be a huge plus. No?

This looks terrible. I will not be attending. Really?? a 460+40 main event?? Why would the WPT even put their name on this? This looks kinda like a daily tourney schedule. I can't wait for chainsaw to get his hands on the structure for this....i have a feeling he may not be pleased.

I can obv see why most dont like the low stakes. All I can say is it gives lower stakes players like myself a chance to buy straight into the main without having to satellite. As a guy from upstate NY i might be interested in somethin like this. Anyone have any info on room prices?

Wanted to take a trip to Parx for this but this seems pretty dismal. These events don't even beat Borgata's Wed/Friday Daily GTDs

there's no hotel on the premises!! You would think they would take advantage of the huge NYC/NJ/Philly market but they really haven't (yet). They have a great poker room, a bunch of former Borgata floor staff/dealers who are all very good, and decent variety of games/stakes for their daily cash games. It amazes how the poker rooms at Mohegan and Parx are positioned so well to really take off yet they just haven't been able to make a significant footprint at all...

What I think is happening here is that Parx and/or WPT are low balling their expectations. Parx is a really nice room in a great location. They definitely have the potential to draw big crowds. In order for that to happen though both Parx and WPT are going to need to trust their product enough to put out a bigger schedule with bigger guarantees. They may be planning to "test the waters" with Parx as a Regional stop, but hopefully that doesn't hurt their future chance of hosting events by having a small turnout due to the weaker schedule.

I will definitely try to get over for at least one event though. Hopefully they draw big crowds.

Why on earth are they having $1500-$2500 in places like derby lane/numerous other sketchy spots..yet when they are smack dab in the middle of a HUGE poker hot spot have this small a main event? Parx got 181 people for a 2k for their series in august that had pretty low numbers for their prelims. (this ran against a 1k at foxwoods that got over 400, so that prob took away from the totals a lil). And smart thinking, running this against wsopC caesars..that should pretty much kill both spots bc they are the exact same buy in range (200-500). well done marketing for parx..they couldnt get onto this season of WPT bc they couldnt figure out dates..then when they finally do they go against this.

Wow, have to agree with everyone else that this is a disappointment. I'm more of a low to mid stakes tourney guy, but I was looking forward to a 2k main event. They did it during their first big poker series why not for this. Then to top it off, they are going right up against the WSOP circuit at Caesars (Which Im already booked) for.

Are the guys in PA (Parx & Harrahs-chester) brain dead? It seems like all they want to do is go against big Atlantic City tournament series. Chester did it in November when they went up against Borgata's Nov series. Same first week and Chester had guarantee's ever tournament, which they didn't make on any day (Including the so called Main Event which got 93 runners to pay $550 for the 100k they guaranteed).

Oh well........ can't say I won't be at events #1 & #2 before I go play the WSOP circuit.

Use the 50k monthly freeroll to give away 100 seats instead of cash, use 2 start days and have a 200k guarantee? (wouldnt a fri/sat or sat/sun draw at least 200 players each day?)

Didnt Delaware park have a 1k main with 100k guarantee last year? You can't tell me Parx couldn't do better with a WPT regional. Even WSOPC chester drew for a 1.5k (269) and everyone seems to hate that place.

I am really curious as to the reasoning for the low guarantees and buy ins. I mean the 2k in august drew 181 which is great. The opener 300 had 479. Even the limit holdem 200 had 135 and beat the 20k guarankee easily.

Every main event on the mid-states poker tour has 100k guaranteed. I think the WPT can top 40k guaranteed.

I am afraid they shot themselves in the foot with this scheduling. It's a shame they are up against the WSOP-c at Caesars. They ran a great series over the summer and I have to admit I am a little disappointed by this schedule in comparison. I won't be around for most of the series so I have not gone over it in any detail and compared it to Caesars (other than the ME), but it really is too bad they are up against Caesars which will have bigger prize pools and rings on the line. I think they could have definitely made the ME a bigger buy-in. It is up against a $555 at Caesars, so making the ME 1500-2K probably could have drawn a nice crowd since it would be a different player pool. Unfortunately because it is up against the $555 I think they will draw less players than if they had made it a bigger buy-in.

I do hope though that our expectations are blown away and Parx will post some good numbers because I really do believe that Parx can put on a great event when they are not up against something big. Like someone else said it would be nice to see them do some weekend series similar to Borgata. I think they would have some success with those as well.

I thought Parx was being picked up by WPT for the next season, not this one. Brandon said their next series was going to be geared towards small stakes players last I spoke to him. It's just a shame that most of this clashes with WSOPc Caesars.

Structure is incredibly good for a $500 event. Only thing I don't like is penalizing late entries. This happened at Borgata as well. Not a fan of this policy. Also they have breaks every 5 40 min levels. That's 3 1/2 hours.

Starting with a full stack would be ideal but you can register ~ 3 hours late and start with ~ $24,200. That's not TOO stiff of a penalty.
