Seniors are the section of the population that have the greatest personal flexibility WRT work/family etc, and thus Seniors and Super Seniors events are slid into the schedule without consideration about public holidays.
I agree and I've already made hotel reservations accordingly. Counting on Mystery Bounty first weekend and Monster Stack 3rd weekend.

But, yes, it was always Father's day weekend in the past. Think they will keep it this way?

The Fathers' day weekend isn't a holiday in the sense of people getting time off, so I don't think it has to do with old people having flexible schedules. I can see how some would like to be able to spend that weekend playing poker, while other fathers would find it a major issue, since it is a time they typically spend with their families as opposed to grinding tournaments.

For many years it was Seniors leading up to Fathers' Day weekend, and then Super-seniors on the weekend. They stopped doing that in 2022, with the two events being a week after the holiday. I don't know if the events were previously scheduled around the holiday, or moved off of that weekend due to complaints. But unless something changes again, I wouldn't expect those events to revolve around Fathers' day next summer.

As for MM and MS, the order was MM, followed by MS for many years. and both occurred prior to Fathers' day. That was also changed in 2022, with the order reversed and one of the events occurring on Fathers' day weekend the last two years.

I think it would be fair to assume the 2024 schedule should be similar to last year, however, given the significant delay in releasing the key events, who knows what they're up to.

Yeah, typical gimmick event with moderate structure but 10-handed tables. Always tempting but I can’t stand 10-handed play.

Unfortunately, 10-handed tables for most weekend flights became the norm last summer. They lost a lot of dealers after a smooth start to last year’s series when they didn’t come through on quantity of hours. It’s understandable, but kinda disappointing.

Yeah, hopefully it’ll be better this year. In theory, the logistics should improve year over year at this location. We shall see.

Maybe so. I just think it’s hard to get the dealer situation perfect. They actually had too many at the start of the series last year. But of course, not enough is problematic as well.

Have to give credit though, always amazed how well the WSOP is run

Hiring the exact correct amount of dealers is an impossible task

For sure. It’s a huge undertaking with a lot of unknown variables. All things considered, they do a decent job.

Let's hope Caesar's honors them. They booted folks from reservations made for the Super Bowl once they found out how much the rooms were going for.

WSOP 2023 schedule dropped on Feb 2. What are the chances we see it released on the anniversary tomorrow?

Dagnabbit, stop posting these arbitrary questions about whether or not it will drop soon! It keeps bumping the thread up and makes me think it’s out now. I get excited then get disappointed. Then I cry.

I agree WSOP run moderately well.

I understand it’s a huge undertaking and lots of logistical issues to be addressed like hiring dealers, weekends dates, crowd attractive tournaments etc etc.

But that’s every year .

Success of WSOP is mainly due to it’s 100’s of thousands fans.

WSOP was popular even before some of its corporate organizers were born.

Please don’t take fan as granted. Give priority to fans problems of planning their hotel stay ,travel dates , and work vacation etc.

You have 6 months of time after 2023 WSOP.

Start your planning 2 or 4 weeks ahead.

Don’t just sit and glow in the success of previous record year of WSOP.

One of the reason always discussed in the fans group for delayed announcements is to limit other casinos planning for competitive tournaments!!

Yes Las Vegas casinos has always benefited by other casinos offering. But that’s how market works. I don’t think any WSOP’s event got less runners because there is a competitive series at other casinos. Or any casinos went bankrupt because they didn’t get overflow from WSOP.

Please think of convenience of Fans (The main reason of success).

Personally I never had a bad experience with Ceasars. They always treated me according to my card status and booking.

But I can understand how sucess and overwhelming demands can affect corporate greed.

My answer above is taking original complaints as it is reported.

The question of WPT retaliation is interesting, but I brought it up half in jest. I have a hard time believing the WSOP will cut off its nose to spite its face to that degree.

Anyhow, has anyone heard any official explanation for the delay? We’re basically 6 weeks behind last year, at least when it comes to announcing the key dates. If I had to guess, competitor issues notwithstanding, this delay is because there are some non-insignificant logistical changes impacting things. Construction? Staffing? When they do release the schedule, if it is more or less the same as last year, I would be pretty surprised. And that would lend credence to the conspiracy theories.

After the series last year, there was talk of adding a 3rd large room to handle an even larger crowd. If that’s true, and they are expanding the series (number of events or expecting bigger crowds) maybe that’s one thing that’s causing a delay. Just a guess though.

I still think that the delay relates to them taking their eye off the ball in order to put on their new Paradise event late last year. It sucks to be kept in suspense like this. They have a captive audience though. Would any of us cancel our plans to go this year because of this late schedule drop? I won't, but it is very aggravating.

If that’s the reason then we will never hear a word about it. Again, if the schedule comes out and things are more or less the same as last year, then people will be left to speculate what the holdup was this year. And I’m sure whatever reasons we come up with will not make the WAOP look good.
