Is there a different alternative for a private room and bathroom than this at this price? I see that the area is sketchy and have terrible reviews, but I wouldn't mind, I want to play 2 tournaments and then cash all days and looking to stay for as cheap as possible coming from Eastern Europe to play for the first time a WSOP event.
I would absolutely, positively not recommend staying at any of the off- brand hotels in the vicinity of the strip.

If price is an absolute issue, you would be better off staying further down the strip at something like Circus Circus or the Stratosphere and getting a 3-day bus pass for $20. You might even get a good deal at a downtown resort and, again, use the bus system. It’s fairly reliable and if you plan well, can easily be used to go up and down the strip. In years past I would use it to play downtown events when I was staying on the strip.

AKASHENK Do you happen to know anything about the Travelodge by Wyndham in that area ? It's only about $60 -$70 a night probably around the same cost all in at Circus Circus. Honestly its been well over +30 years since I stayed at Circus Circus and the Stratosphere............ neither would I think about doing so again but heck I stayed at the Westward Ho back in the day for a cheap bed.

I don’t know anything about that hotel. I just know that Vegas, like a lot of cities, isn’t what it used to be from a safety standpoint. I’m sure there are deals to be had off the strip, but they aren’t worth it IMO.

BTW, I see your Westward Ho and raise you the LV youth hostel… a place I stayed in one night almost 30 years ago. Not for the faint of heart. But I was a kid back then and $12/nt on a holiday weekend hit my budget’s sweet spot.

Are you including Ellis Island in this? I’ve never been but I’ve heard good things and it’s very close to the HS.

I was curious and had some time this morning, so did some comparison shopping for a random 7 days in July (11th-18th).

Ellis Island = $1032.21
Gold Coast = $745.74
4 Queens = $760.49
Excalibur = $807.80
The Strat = $803.64
Circus Circus = $622.83

I have a hard time recommending Circus Circus for anything, but I suppose if I was on a strict budget it wins easily.

Rio and Gold Coast are not the worst shout at that price point if you're willing to eat the Uber fees. El Cortez is another one that has some cheap rates.

Come to think of it, I've personally stayed in most of the biggest dives in town. I guess this is my area of expertise.

I remember back before covid I could get a round flight trip + 5 nights stay for total 1250-1400 staying on strip

Has anyone played in any of the 1,100 satellites into a $10k event? They start at 7 pm the night before the actual event so I wondered if they were all night affairs. Checking the structure sheet I see that you win a seat as soon as you get to 10x starting stack so that's better than I expected (which was play down to 10% of the field). Obviously the time is going to vary a lot if you are last to qualify as opposed to first however would appreciate any input. Was specifically looking at the 2-7 triple draw which being limit will likely take longer. Thanks

Regarding accommodations - I like the food at Ellis Island and the rooms look decent from the outside so I checked their room rates this year and for the days I looked they were more expensive than the lower tier Caesar's properties. Midweek, even with the resort fees, I am about $85 a night at the Flamingo with the WSOP rate.

The code is: WSOP24

Or click the Book a Room link from wsop website and it takes you to caesars reservations and pre-fills the code for you.

LOL and aren't you glad those days are "pleasant" memories.

Okay since we've semi hijacked the thread -I've been trumped. I was 32 and a bit old for hostels. Lots of properties have vanished in 40 years but at least in that day I never had a bit of concern about walking that area of the strip. Partly age, partly society change, partly lack of organized crime (say what you want about places like the Stardust but they didn't want THEIR suckers fleeced by anyone but THEM.

Off strip, Ellis Island is very close to the Horseshoe, usually pretty cheap, and not horrible room quality.
Does anyone know if you can walk directly from Ellis Island into the back of the Horseshoe, or do you have to walk around to the side or the front of the Shoe?

How about the Oyo Hotel & Casino across the street from MGM? Is that an ok place for a female to stay on her own? There is a good price on Airbnb there.

Make sure that the fees are included on AirBnB, as I tried booking on there, only to find out that the casino fees actually doubled the announced, which sure is a thing in Vegas, but not on AirBnB.

I played the $1100 Razz last year and actually sattied into the $10k. We finished around 1:30-2 iirc. That said, they have changed everything this year with these "landmark" satellites where like you said, you get a seat once you 10x your stack which is totally different than what I played. We got like 60-ish entries and top 6 got a seat like a normal satellite. I honestly don't know how this new structure will affect the rate of play, or what the optimal strategy for this type of thing is. I will really have to think about it before I head out (probably playing the $10k 2-7 NL SD satty.)

My recollection is that the afternoon $1ks take maybe 6-8 hours to play down to the payouts. They are relatively turbo-y.

Guessing the 7 pm offerings will also move quickly. Payouts by 1-2 AM probably?

Ellis to Horseshoe is an easy walk if you are moderately fit.

Half block along Koval. Hang a left on Flamingo. After another half block, walk in to the Horsehoe using the sliding doors by the Johnny Rockets.

I stayed at Ellis for a few nights during the last WSOP and it was fine. Rooms are fine. Nothing notable, but you won't fear for your life.

Walk is quick. 10 minutes from door to door maybe? In the 100+ degree weather it's still an unpleasant trek, but mercifully short.

Though, I am staying at Horseshoe thx to Diamond + (11days @ $286 Total).

But if not I would have stayed at either Gold Coast or Rio.

From the price you were quoted I would definitely select Gold Coast.

While it is walkable, its a long walk & it will be triple-digit heat and no good route to dip indoors for some a/c without adding time and distance.

imo, you'll have a better experience staying someplace nicer but farther away and using uber/taxi. I'd look at: the Strat, Excalibur, Gold Coast, Orleans...or downtown - Fremont, 4 Queens, Plaza. Orleans & GN downtown have their own series also, so those options would have poker available.

Harrah's, Flamingo, LINQ are actually walkable. If you have to spend 15-20 bucks each way for cabs/uber your savings are going to disappear. Weekends are much more expensive than weekdays. A shorter 5 day trip will be a lot cheaper than a 7 day, but flying all the way from Europe, a 5 day trip would suck.

Thank you so much, you savd me 500 bucks for my stay at the flmingo fab room <3
If you are in Vegas 07/04-07/12 drinks on me.

Short question:
Are there running ME qualifier the whole week? twice a day?
Coming to Vegas at 07/04 at 2pm thinking about jumping into a 1k qualifier same day.

I would be kind of surprised if Cromwell were less expensive than Horseshoe, Paris or PH, all of which are in the same vicinity. But it never hurts to check.
