How do they resolve that? At some point there could be 3 players left and 250k total chips left. If they only pay 2 remaining players, they'll be ripping off the players. They'll be collecting, say, 100 entries but only paying out 9 seats instead of 10.
The prizepool is the same, they still award the same number of seats.
E.g. 3 players left. 2 seats left. One player gets knocked out. The remaining 2 players get seats.
These milestones have been a thing for 2 years now. As long as it's structured correctly for (x) chips milestones vs 1 in x buyin. It all works out.
And to whoever said its less cost to the casino, its probably a wash as you need more floors if its a bigger one since it's more labor intensive throughout. Maybe you break down a table 10mins early because you lost one extra player to a milestone but its a wash since there's more open seats.
Also 100 entries usually only results in 9 seats anyway because of the rake. (I know it was your example but the prizepool will always be the same, there's no ripping anyone off).
It def benefits players that can accumulate chips but all that means is the hourly goes up for those players as they dont just need to sit there till sub 10BB average.
