What's the "tournament vibe" like at Resorts World?

I played their $200 daily last summer the last day I was in town. It got190ish runners and was well run -- it's a nice room. I do wish they had gone for more of a summer schedule and not just dailies with higher-than-normal GTDs. But glad to see at least a couple multi-flights in there.

One thing worth noting from RW and Golden Nugget schedules: The WSOP adding a third day 1 on Sunday for several weekend events gives people more chances to play other casinos with Day 2s on Sunday. For instance, you could play and bag the WSOP Colossus Friday 6/28, play and bag the Resorts World $100k GTD Saturday 6/29, play RW day 2 Sunday, and then back to WSOP for day 2 Monday.

Odds are you won't make both day 2s to need that flexibility -- but it's an option now to play em both. Last year I remember one of the streamers trying in vain to multi-table MGM/WSOP day 2s simultaneously.

I like Resorts World a lot. I've played the daily tournament 4x, some cash, and a NAPT event. Nice space. Good staff. No complaints.

For the NAPT, they had a whole dedicated ballroom upstairs away from their usual poker space, which was pretty slick.

As another poster said, this summer "series" appears to be little more than their usual daily events with higher guarantees (and a couple random $400 multi-days thrown in). I imagine it will be held in their usual poker room where the dailies always run. Resorts World dailies sometimes only draw about 25-30 entries, but in busy seasons they get good overflow from the Wynn and can balloon to 100+. Should be a nice option for people who want good events on a low-ish budget.

Seeing as how Venetian and Wynn really lean into the high price points in summer, it will be nice to have some budget options on that side of town.

Well that's cool. Did they have a series last year?

Any reason why they start over a week later into their series than WSOP?

I liked it there a lot, but I’m leaving on the 6th and only be there for the first week of WSOP, so no Resort Worlds Tourneys for me this time.

Echoing everyone else, I like it. Nice room, good food options that aren't hard on the wallet helps as well.

They have some low stakes mix cash games, so it's surprising this schedule doesn't include mix. It's basically a bunch of tourney's mimicking the dailies at WSOP. I'm guessing the turnout will be lower though, which is good IMO. No need to grind a $250 until 4:00 AM or whatever. Better to have another option. Hopefully we get some mix next year.

They have a $200 at noon everyday, and a $150 (?) at 7pm. The fields aren't very big most of the year, but during the summer, the noon event will get well past 100 entries, up to 200, and will pay something like $5-10K to the winner. This will likely be true before their official summer series begins, as this was what they did last summer, when it was just these regular daily events.

Yeah exactly, last time I was there (around October) it was maybe 30 Runners for the noon tournament but Cashgame was really juicy and fun with a lot of drunk Asian players. Food options are as mentioned also very nice.
And ~150 Runners or so doesn’t sound too bad, so maybe even without the official series it is worth a visit. Thanks Champ!

May I ask you what it’s like for you in these smaller tournaments? You have a distinct look and are known for your Main Event win. Do some people get starstruck and/or ask for pictures with you/autographs? Or do you find they treat you just as any other player? I’d imagine more so the latter in larger field tournaments but smaller tournaments at smaller venues are probably a different experience for you.

This is a helpful resource for those who didn't know about it:

https://poker-schedule.com/

They've added a button for Variants (which filters out NLH and leaves everything else which mixed game players like me appreciate).

I'd say I get treated about the same in any event nowadays. The really experienced players don't pay me much attention. The recreational players seem glad to see me at their table regardless of the venue or field size. For them it adds something extra to the game, a game they are mostly playing for fun, rather than as a serious money-making venture. And more and more often there are players who have no idea who I am. That can lead to some funny incidents. I hit a draw or something and beat a guy, and he starts proclaiming how badly I played the hand, how clueless I am, etc. And the rest of the table is just laughing at him, and he has no idea why.

I seldom get autograph requests anymore, because people who used to want that now prefer a selfie. Still plenty of those. And I'm happy to do any of that stuff, as long as I don't have a live hand in front of me.

Have seen you at many tourneys and you are always friendly and cool to everyone, taking pics on breaks, etc. My hats off to you and am always rooting for you to succeed.

I've played with Greg now probably a dozen or so times over the last 5-6 years in places ranging from Gary, Indiana all the way to day 2's of WSOP events and he has always been a consummate pro and gracious with answering questions about pretty much anything--from the "old school" days, his main event run, his time at pokerstars--you name it.

See you this summer!

Seldom get autograph requests anymore? Well, if I see you at WSOP this year, I’ll definitely hit you up for one!

6 weeks to go and we STILL dont have any series info for Orleans, Aria and MGM.

Aria will no doubt be the dull Holdem-fest that they usually spit out, and MGM last year was mainly constituted by joke events. But the Orleans schedule is always varied and interesting and eagerly awaited (by me, at least).

I was trying to discover quite how late Orleans published their schedule last year. A quick internet search failed to deliver a publishing date for 2023 - does anybody happen to know what date it came out last year?

Orléans published some announcements for Dealer recruiting via Twitter in the last days, MGM did the sam thing couple of weeks ago.
I don’t know if they first have to know how many Dealers they will have and then can sort it out what kind of tournaments they’ll offer but maybe it’s an indicator at least that Orleans definitely will be later than MGM.

Otherwise I cannot think of a single reason to not have the schedules ready shortly after the WSOP releases theirs…

I have never played at either of these venues so i don’t know what the logistics is like in them. However, most places that hold big series during the summer have to get extra space to accommodate the crowds. And casinos are pretty reluctant to give up any space to poker. So I wouldn’t be at all surprised if delays in announcing have a lot to do with waiting on upper management to give the go a head.
