I tried in 2019 but it didn't seem possible. I had to show up at the Rio with cash to load my tournament account.

Also, I am very skeptical that registering using wire method actually registers you. I just went through it on Bravo for the main event. While it tells me I am registered (or pre-reg), I do not have to wire anything and they didn't give me a deadline. Once I wire, I am pretty sure I would have to go to the cage to retrieve the money I wired (showing their the wire proof) and asking for the ticket to be printed. That left me pretty confused.

Also, I heard from Bart Hanson that there has been stories of wires getting lost (you can imagine the inconvenience of dealing with this when getting at WSOP). Now pretty hesitant using wire as a way to register.

Since I still do not want to pay the 3% fees for ACH and credit cards, and I do not want to travel with tons of cash... that leaves cashier check as a way to bring cash to the WSOP. That said, no online registration before getting to LV that way.

That being said, for people participating mid-series this year, I imagine things will go back to the way they were in 2019 and earlier. There is bound to be a little chaos during the major events. But by-in-large, registration during off hours is usually pretty painless.

I do assume, though, that the first couple days of the reunion event might resemble last Fall with long lines and overall disarray. The WSOP always seems to need a few days to get their feet under them. I never understood why they place their most heavily attended event right at the beginning when both players and staff are more unsure of things. But that’s the way it has been for a number of years now, and every year it’s a little crazy.

I did mine in 2018. maybe things have changed but i do remember wit lines being 2-3+ hours for the BIG events. thats wwhy i just said f it im going at like 3 am and it worked. planning on doing the same. but youre right, maybe it wont be as bad

Xpost from Staking. Doesn't seem to be much traffic over there...

Combining Tournament and Cash Games in Package?
I'm wondering if it makes sense to markup say 1.1 for an entire bankroll for say a month. Bringing 10k for Vegas Summer and plan on splitting time between cash games and tournaments. So if I sold half at 1.1 it would be 5500 for the backer's 50% and 4500 for my 50% and we split it at the end.

I've never marked up cash games in this way before. Is the above a reasonable deal for a decent 2/5 winner who doesn't play many tournaments but will play small buyin, soft field events? Idk why it wouldn't work, just don't know if 1.1 is too much or too little for cash games. I want it to be fair.

I know like you said you are posting in wrong forum . Our opinion doesn’t matter. Check out in market place . MU depends on your previous results and dealing with the buyers.

Lots of great info in this thread. Thanks to everyone who took the time to answer and provide all the great tips.

Has anyone ever stayed at the Park MGM? I was able to get better comps there with my MGM card than anywhere else, but not familiar with the property. Anyone have any feedback on this place?

Haven’t stayed there since it was the Monte Carlo, but FYI it’s about a 10-15 minute walk to Ballys from there. There is also a free tram running between the Park MGM and Bellagio which is across Las Vegas Blvd from Paris/Ballys.

Thanks akashenk. I don't mind the walk too much. Although if I do really well in a cash game I'll have to take an Uber so I'm not walking the streets of Vegas with too much cash
Wondering what the rooms are like there though. If it's too much of a dive, I'd prefer to pay a few extra dollars to stay in a nicer place.

It was a mid-tier joint as Monte Carlo. On par with Ballys and Paris. I’d be kinda surprised if it has gotten worse but I’m not speaking from experience.

Stayed for one comp night in 2019 and was perfectly acceptable. Don't remember any complaints about the room and mobile check in was easy. Agree with comp to Ballys.

I don't see much difference between the quality of rooms at Park MGM and at a place like Planet Hollywood, but the beds are low to the ground, which theoretically might be a problem with certain sexual positions if you're bringing hookers back to your room.

Thanks guys. Appreciate the feedback. Sounds like it's going to be fine place to stay.

Well, that just means more of them can be stacked on the bed before reaching the ceiling and running out of room

Park MGM rooms are fine. Nothing luxurious but clean, newly remodeled. Bathroom was quite nice. Hotel itself has a fresh feel to it. Bed was comfortable but I'm not picky about that

The answer is don't worry about it. you only need to worry about the 10k HU and maybe the shootout.

Park MGM is non-smoking, which is a plus for me. I stayed a couple of nights in Dec, was fine, clean, but showing some age. Only issue was with trying to use the cellphone as key. Grab a real ('real') key downstairs, you won't regret it.

I just showed up today May 6, 2022 in person at Paris to try to figure out all the options. Basically it seemed like cash or bust when it comes to avoiding fees. Cashiers check seemed possible but in person the process they described seemed way more difficult than what they said online. Even to avoid the $3 printing fee incurred for printing your reg card from a kiosk you need to hand over cash and register for each specific events in person with the cashier. They aren’t prepared or ready at all to set up the “tournament account” the website boasts about being a great option used by Daniel Negreanu to print out your tournament tickets at kiosks from an account balance for $3 fee each. They only really could have you register for specific events right now, with that tournament account not being able to be set up until like May 29th or something when the series is going.

They didn’t have any information whatsoever about the parking situation either.

Hope Caesar’s gets their act together because they still seem completely out of sorts.

Interesting!

1/True about fees, but there are differences. E.g. for a 10k event, would you rather pay 70$ wire fee to your bank, or 300$ to bravo to pay by ACH?

2/Cashier check: What did you hear about the procedure? How complicated can it be?

For what it is worth, I used the tournament account in 2019 and it worked great. Saved a lot of time. Now they are indeed far from ready yet.

The WSOP crew and the hotel crew are two different groups and probably not cross-trained. I wouldn't expect anything more than the basics from the hotel crew. The WSOP crew probably won't be in the picture until much closer to the WSOP start.

Housewarming and Monster. Why? One, the schedule has them back-to-back weekends. Two, Monster is a much deeper tournament allowing a lot more play. I have played the Milly twice, but never the Monster due to scheduling. The Milly has been the tournament the following weekend during the summer, not the Monster. That changes this year. Three, I have found that the cash games in the past have been great during the opening large tournament but significantly worse during the next weekend. However, there seems to be a decent size convention during the Monster weekend which could make the cash games better this year.

The Aria states on its structure sheet for the Seniors event that ‘Players must be at least 50 years of age in the calendar year 2022’

I’m interested to know whether a similar condition applies to the WSOP Seniors and Super Seniors events. The structure sheet for the Super Seniors states merely ‘must be at least 60 years of age’, with no specification as to a cut off date

I’ve checked the general rules and there’s no clue there. On the face of it, it appears that you would need to have had your 60th birthday before day 1 on June 28th to qualify. But the statement in the Aria structure sheet makes me wonder whether their regulation is a general and common qualification rule for LV tournaments….

I’d like a categorical answer as to the cut off date. Can anybody plz suggest an email address for the tournament supervisors that I could write to? Or PM me the private email address of one of the senior guys at WSOP to whom I could apply for definitive information on this question…

Thx….
