2021 WSOP Circuit:

I need some excitement in my life and decided to attempt living on the road for a year. I am selling my house, car and getting rid of most of my stuff and just going to take it easy.

Next June is my goal and I hope it is normal by then. Even though I am traveling I still do not plan on entering the more expensive buy-ins unless my bankroll allows (meaning I win some).

I am a rec player and this trip is much more than just poker. I will be exploring the surrounding area and finding all the great local food. 10-12 days in each area is the perfect duration to see everything and still get in 2 tournaments and a third if I am ahead of my budget.

I am going to buy an RV and since I am going to customize it I can not lease/rent one. Not sure what I am going to pull it with though. Still trying to pick out everything.

Anyone here follow the WSOP-C and have any tips/tricks to get the most out of it. Anything you wish you would have known before doing it? Any great place to find more information about doing this?

When the weather is hot I plan on plugging into shore power. The rest of the time I will be dry camping. I will also take advantage of Reward memberships.

As long as you have enough savings that you don't need to win at poker in order to afford gas/food etc I'm all for it.

I can't offer any tips but good luck!

Re: 2021 WSOP Circuit:

Yea my budget does not count me cashing in any of the tournaments. Any ones I do cash I will use it for my bankroll to pay for higher entry tournaments. My budget will only allow 2 tournaments at each stop and not the main buy-ins.

Example of ones I would enter based on this season which got canceled:
Stop 1: $400 buy-in and $500,000 Guaranteed.
Stop 1: $250 buy-in and $100,000 Guaranteed
Stop 2: $400 buy-in and $500,000 Guaranteed
Stop 2: $250 buy-in and $300,000 Guaranteed
Stop 3: $600 buy-in and $500,000 Guaranteed
Stop 3: None.
etc.

So each stop will have a $650 budget and I will use any cash outs I receive to sign up for the mains.

I estimate 3 stops on average a month so $1950 budget. I have actually done very well in these types of tournaments though and hope to get at least one main in every month. If not I am still traveling and having a great time so I am happy. I would just be happier if I was winning :}.

Re: 2021 WSOP Circuit:

Pull your RV? You mean you're getting a 5th wheel or something like that?

I would suggest getting to the Circuit events on the first day IF they have good STT action. Some are great, some are non-existant. Try to find out before each event. Don't limit yourself to Circuit either, check MSPT and the other tours. Even some of the WPT events have weeks of smaller tournaments surrounding the main event.

Keep an eye out for some of the better satellites into the higher dollar events. Even if you do not plan on re-buys or re-entering, $650 seems a bit on the light side. Maybe you can tweet / IG about your travels, kind of like a Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives with gambling! Let us know if you do, I'm sure a number of us would follow and be in your corner! That is, as long as you're not across the table!

If you buy a used RV from Cruise America you can sell it later for not much less. You definitely don't want a big truck and trailer that will hinder where you can go. Please vlog it on YouTube!

Re: 2021 WSOP Circuit:

$650 a stop is kinda silly. Just yolo fire 10k a stop for 2 stops and stay on the road if you still have money. If you bust the poker roll at least you can hit more fun destinations instead of being stuck going to Milwaukee, Tunica, and Council Bluffs.

Re: 2021 WSOP Circuit:

The $650 a stop is just what I am budgeting to loose for Poker. I have a much larger budget but I would get killed if I spent more than that on gambling. It was already hard enough to talk my partner into agreeing to everything we have planned. Any time I cash out my budget will increase by that amount.

I am planning on 0 cashes and a beer or two thrown in my face. A drunk man getting sick on me and my partner falling in love with a clown. When none of that happens I will be happy and consider myself lucky. Cashing once in awhile, getting a drunk girl to kiss me, and my partner falling in love with said drunk girl and us three living happily ever after. I just am not planning on it.

I was picking the WSOP-c because we wanted to create a blog centered around it. It will be split into 3 parts.
1: The Casino and poker series. This includes other lodging available in area at different price points.

2: Food. We love dining out and finding hidden gems of restaurants. We drive at least 100 miles (round trip) once a week just to find a new place to try. My favorite pizza place is 150 miles away (round trip) and I go there at least once a month. Our food budget will be $1500.

3: Site seeing and attractions. Even if we do not get a chance to try it out we are going to dig as deep as possible trying to find facts and information about it to put in the blog.

Even if the blog does not do well it will be used as a photo book and a way for our families/friends to keep track where we are. Again no planning for stuff outside our control.

I am a Rec player. I am a very foolish player and do a ton of stupid things when playing. I am unpredictable. I also know when to tighten up and focus when needed. I played over 60 tournaments last year and broke even. (cash games are another story sadly). This included mid cashing one that had 600+ entrants and 2 for min that had 300+ entrance. Breaking even with my play style is a win for me as it is entertainment.

Re: 2021 WSOP Circuit:

I second the advice to look at the other tours. Some of them also have great events with large, soft fields and buyins in the $100-500 range. Check out HPT, MSPT, Card Player PT, and several more.

Also, the circuit might go from a west coast event straight to an east coast event. Rather than chug across the country quickly, with these other tours you can mix it up and spend less time driving, and more time doing.

Have fun!

Just be wary of a friendly smiling man sitting on your left. He's great company but might be as bad for your tournament health as he was mine at last year's Monster Stack.

Re: 2021 WSOP Circuit:

In the email confirming GCC participation, they said there are no scheduled 2020/2021 circuit events and as a result they will likely not hold a GCC in 2021.

Maybe 2022?

If/When the WSOP-C reopens I HIGHLY recommend a stop in Cherokee, NC. Hands down the best Harrah's casino outside of LV and the mountains are spectacular. I go hiking every morning I'm there before playing poker.

As for food, Peter's Pancakes is the best breakfast place in town. Go hungry for southern comfort food.

The area is beautiful. Not a fan of the casino. They don't comp anybody unless you are a big player in the casino. And even then, nowhere near as much as other properties.

You are very right about Peter's, it is the nuts. Sadly, only open for breakfast and lunch, and there is nowhere else in Cherokee that is of any merit. If you were buying, and asked me to pick the place for dinner, we might end up at Taco Bell. There just aren't any good options unless you drive half an hour for some BBQ. Of course, food is subjective, YMMV.

Interesting local adaptation. This property has a monopoly on the casino market for hundreds of miles. They only grant tier status to play in their casino and do not fully honor the CE system from other CE properties! No way to get a room unless you gambool there. Pretty sure the Cherokees negotiated this when partnering with CE.

The facility, architecture, flow with the river running down the middle of the property are stunning.

Personally, I stay across the street in the Fairfield as I have lifetime Marriott status.

If WSOP is at least thinking of 2021 WSOP , they must com out with some kind of plan for all the circuit events early and attractive.

Re: 2021 WSOP Circuit:

Weekend tournaments and the Monster Stack during the week are the best value events. The Circuit Main Events are incredible values, if $1700 a stop isnt in the budget, maybe plan around some sattys. If the stop has STT tourney action those are usually great. And you can always find a good 1/3 cash game, probably even a good 2/5 game on the weekends.
