I just put in a ~12 hour day wearing one of those thin blue surgical masks.

I find those ones to be low on the discomfort scale, especially if you've broken it in for a while.

For me, it's a must just to minimize the risk of catching something and exposing others, even though I've been vaxed for a long time. It feels like the responsible thing to do and the extra hassle has been minimal. Not even noticeable, to be honest.

I'm also out here. Did trips in 2018 and 2019.

Just a few quick impressions:

- Wait times feel longer this year? Understandable given the context, but I've spent more time in line than usual. I always encourage people to register and get payouts late in the night if possible to minimize crowds.

- It's 2021 and the Rio's food options just aren't up to par with most professional sporting events. I went to a preseason NBA game a few weeks back and there was a huge variety of high quality options to choose from. With the Rio, you get the worst of both worlds: obscenely inflated prices and piss poor quality. There's also a severe lack of healthy choices, as almost everything on offer is some type of fat/sugar/calorie bomb.

It's a strong group of players cashing and making the final 10 of the $50K players championship. Seven are former bracelet winners, including Negreanu, Elezra, Schulman, and Paul Volpe, and repping those without a bracelet Jungleman is there, too.

It's a big whiff on the part of PokerGo that it's not being streamed.

Lots of vaxed people are dead from covid. Maryland recently reported that 40% of their covid deaths (don't know what time period) were jabbed. Do whatever you can to ward off the evil.

I thought 2019 was far worse wrt lines. Playing in the Big Fitty it seemed everywhere I looked, I saw poor bastids waiting in line, either to reg, or waiting for a seat after they reged. I avoided almost all of it because I got to use the Diamond reg cage, with much shorter lines, and when I needed to do something other than reg I did it late at night. I got a hint of what it was like though, because it took me 3 tries to get paid for my cash. First time right after I got knocked out, 20 people in line. Went back at 1 am, 20 people in line. Finally, 2 days later I found the line had only 10 people, still took over half an hour.

Thanks for the heads-up; I asked Player Services and a cashier supervisor various questions about this. I was told that there is no policy about only one auto-cancel; and, no-shows are rare.

I discussed your two points (integrity of game and play dynamics) with two floor TDs during breaks. Their opinion was that the quantity of "free" chips was very small since auto-cancel occurs after 3rd level; the impact of free chips from undefended blinds at low blind levels is trivial; majority of free stacks in play are of players who arrive late, not from no-shows; adjusting your play because of an unattended stack at the table is no different than when someone is away from table and losing blinds (btw, very common during the Super Senior due to bathroom lines and continency issues).

I asked my own question about why a stack is not kept in the well until player is seated. Reply was that to do so rewards the late-arriving player and penalizes on-time players because they would face more blinds/faster orbits.

My post is not meant to challenge your opinions or the rationale on which they are based. I use 2+2 to learn from others, and wanted to contribute some knowledge since I am at the WSOP and enjoy talking to people.

That's a bit of a crock because late-regs get a full stack no matter when they come in. It's okay to be a late reg but not a late arriver, according to him.

No. 30% over the last 6 weeks. They have a 66% vax rate. Death rate is 10-15x higher for unvaxxed, and the huge majority of vaxxed who died had multiple comorbidities, like Colin Powell (mid-80s and cancer survivor)

They have to plan for late arrivals, since they are already bought. What would you do if you sold 400 seats, but then only have 100 players there? Late reg get fit in, and put themselves at risk of delays/alt status etc.

There isn't a perfect option. If they didn't put out sold seats, you would have a lot more people reg early but arrive hours late, which would have several negative effects.

I think it’s a good deal for $15 if you only get it for a month and binge the WSOP main event. They have it on demand and prior years so I would say if you plan to watch a lot of it; it def has value.

For most people though, def not worth it.

Says the guy who calls $120 4 bet with 23 suited. Poker go is about $100/year. Pick up just one tip while watching and it’s paid for.

Hey everyone, this weekend will be my first WSOP. In town Thurs night to Sunday morning.

Although I'm not playing (no time) I'd love to rail some of these WSOP tables, especially if I get to see some big names for the first time.

Any tips? I have 0 experience being a railbird at any tournaments like this before, so any advice is welcome. I probably only have time for an hour or two total during the trip.

Thanks!

Lots of high roller tournaments going on then, should be plenty of railing opportunities.

Look for the big yappers like Negreanu. He talks with everyone on the rail. Hellmuth talks a lot too, but to nobody in particular. Phil Laak used to do a lot of clownish things but I don't know if he even plays poker any more.

There are multiple rooms they play in. The Amazon, Brasilia, and the huge Pavilion.
