JMMJ05 r u a local player ?

I am playing my First Event on 1st October. Will be arriving Las Vegas on 29th September mid day . Will find out and post it for general information if that’s helpful.

I just rebooked my WSOP trip! I missed the fact that you have to be Vaxed "AND" 14-days out. I'll miss the tourney I was most excited about, but I'll get over it. My only other option was to mix the Vax's, ...hard pass on that.

Is there online registration yet? With these vaccine mandates, I'm dreading how long these lines are gonna be.

It is now time to discuss Poker,WSOP, Las Vegas, Rio etc in constructive way .

Now it’s time to express your knowledge and wisdom. Stay away from criticizing other people opinion and suggestions..

I just heard Matt Savage on podcast of RecPoker Community. When asked about WSOP’s rules about vaccination, he said “It is what it is . It is what WSOP/Ceasars decided. It is their tournament. Play by the Rule and enjoy “
We have so many great mind here with different kind of skillset, knowledge and wisdom.
Please help our 2+2 community with suggestions and guidance.
Let’s start different kind of debate/ Poles etc like fun.

There is a always a topic where everyone has some calculated guesstimate!

How many players will attend this year’s different Events compared to previous years.

2019 had following attendance for some of the popular events.
1, Big Event/(Reunion )….28371
2, Monster …………………..6035
3, Millionsire Maker………..8809
4, Senior ………………………5916
5, Super Senior ……………..2650
6, Mini Main………………….…5521
7 , Crazy 888…………………10185
8, 600 Deepstack……….….6140
9, Main Event …………………8569.

Depending on your interest what do you think the attendance will be ?
2021 IMO
1, Big Event/(Reunion )….12000
2, Monster …………………..5000
3, Millionsire Maker………..5000
4, Senior ………………………4500
5, Super Senior ……………..2500
6, Mini Main……………………5000
7 , Crazy 888…………………6000
8, 600 Deepstack……….….4000
9, Main Event …………………5500.

Anything close to this numbers,in my view will be a successful WSOP.
*You can add any event of your liking to the list or guesstimate.
I believe in years past international entrants made up some 25% of fields. So I think you start at 75% of 2019 and work from there. If we go by the attendance of other Vegas series over the last year, I think the numbers should be robust, but probably not enough to make up for the loss of international.

As for the mandate and it’s effect on attendance. It’s a double edged sword. Some will only play because of the mandate. Others will not play because of it. It’s really hard for me to have any idea which is a greater factor.

Perhaps the biggest factor is the overall cost of travel at this time and the time of year which may make planning lengthy excursions more difficult. I for one will only be going out for three weeks, whereas in years past it would be at least 4 if not 5+.

If I were a gambling man, I would say numbers will be around 70% of normal for the large field events. Probably close to normal for the small field events.

But I’m not a gambling man, so I guess I’ll just wait and see.

Like always your thought process and logic is right on the dot.

For the same reason I have deducted 30% to 50% from ME and Reunion.

I wonder how many guarantees they'll miss or decide to not honor because of the reduced attendance

Are there any prize pool guarantees besides the Reunion event? I think they only need just under 12k entries to make that guarantee.

Hey All,

Does anyone have a brand of mask they like best to be wearing for 10+ hours a day...looking for a cloth type, I do not want to be wearing paper all day and could use a recommendation.

They just added 11 online events and I think that’s a terrible idea except from their greedy perspective.

They have an online series now. Why add online events to the live series? They don’t have live events for the online series so why not just keep them separate (other than the obvious money grab)?

The online thing is dumb and probably just a hedge against reduced reg numbers in the live events. Caesars and the player pool are definitely losing some EV if all the anti-vax droolers stay at home. Then you have the reasonable skeptics who just don't want to risk it. I get that, because I originally had an early October trip planned and pushed it into November to avoid jumping straight from WSOP into other family events that are on my calendar. Wouldn't want to expose someone just because I needed to gamble ASAP.

I'm definitely going though, despite how weird this year will be. It's been over two years since the last proper WSOP and I'm just about out of patience. The 2021 Weird Series of Poker will be one to remember, and hopefully things will be back to normal for 2022.

How adding online events will affect anyway to the Regular Live WSOP or it’s attendees?

In the 80’s and 90’s there were much fewer events. As they see popularity and demand they kept on adding events like any business will do to up their bottom line .

If as a business WSOP wants to take advantage of anti-vaxers who will not be attending WSOP,I don’t see any problem.

Anti-Vaxers has a choice to get vaccination but they choose not to , which is their right under the current law . And they were mad and loud when vaccination became a requirement which I can understand.

If WSOP decide to satisfy them , it’s all good.
Anyway those events will be marketed as online events and recorded in history as online events I think .

They've had online events for a few years during the live Series. I remember people playing in them while waiting in the satellite lines.

Anybody have any recommendations as to the time of day with the shortest lines for registration? Was thinking maybe early in the morning?

I wear ones from FOCO.com. I’ve played poker while wearing one for 12+ hours and it doesn’t bother me. They’re cloth and the ear loops don’t dig in like some others.

In my experience, late at night (let's say after 9-10 PM and later) is usually a good time to hit the kiosks. Peak Rio traffic is probably 12-6, and the crowds tend to thin out dramatically once people are busting after their dinner breaks and retiring for the day.

This would only really apply to anti-Vaxers in NV since you have to be in state to play online. I doubt this was much of a consideration for the WSOP because of that. They have had online events during the WSOP in the past so this doesn’t seem like anything new.

I know. But they didn’t have the separate online series until last year. Call me crazy but I think online events should be for the online series and live events for the live series.

The online series should have the online events. The live series should have the live events. If it’s purely a bottom line deal, like you seem to think, they should just do everything online and no longer have it live. It’ll save them a TON of overhead. But there is something more real and pure about live poker and adding online events for the live series detracts from that.

It has nothing to do with the anti vax crowd. The people upset about the vaccine mandate aren’t suddenly going to be cool with traveling to Vegas and giving the WSOP money to play online. It’s a matter of principle for them and out of principle alone, they won’t be playing at all or supporting the WSOP.

If true, it will be interesting how they plan on enforcing it (how many doors will be open, what about the people who use the back 'secret' exits, people who go outside to smoke on breaks, etc.)

Early morning is right (about 2-7am), although even then, there is sometimes a short wait.

They said you can't even spectate without passing muster, so they obviously plan to control access at all those spots. The most obvious are the doors near the rotunda leading to the parking lot. I imagine it will be like airport inspection lines aka, a living hell.

I would think that with the verification of all players being vaccinated, i doubt there is some big process to enter the building. There could be a walkthru temperature scan which would only take a few seconds to go by. For spectators, although they are requiring them to be “vaccinated”, i dont think there will be a verification of spectators like there is players. Spectators are probably on the honor system as long as they are wearing the mask. Just my thoughts.
