Sept. 30 to Nov. 23 Would be a pleasant experience 👍
I enjoy visiting Vegas in the summer just for the experience of the extreme heat, but it definitely gets old fast, especially when they lower the casino temps so much.

October is really the best time of year to visit IMO. It’s not quite as crowded as the spring and the weather is usually great. On a personal note, it’s also a better time of year for me to be able to take that sort of time off and I don’t miss out on a month of Summer outdoor activities back home. I don’t know if I would expect October/November to become the new timeframe for the WSOP, but I would not be at all sad if it did.

What's the opinion on "The Reunion" 5mil guaranteed? My guess is similar to the Big Fitty with buy-in between $500 and $800. The $1k events have substantially smaller fields, so I think they'd be happy with a $500 entry with 12k to 15k entries.

I think it’ll be around $500 also but part of me wonders if they will bump it up with the intention of keeping the field smaller and more manageable. I bet they don’t even know at this point and they’ll play it be ear as it gets closer. If they have a turnout like Colossus but it’s 6-max or something, they won’t have nearly enough space.

It seems like The Reunion will be promoted same way as Big Fifty and Colossus.

I think it will draw upwards of 15000 plus.

Even though Rio is announced as The Venue, don’t be surprised if larger events like this will be divided between multiple casinos due to prevailing crowd restrictions at the time.(For instance Day 1 will be played at 2 or 3 casinos and combined back to Rio next day )

It will be very interesting to see how they will manage logistical challenges.

If it's 6-max it'll be a much smaller field. All the nits, including me, will stay home. WSOP knows this so at worst, it'll be 8-max.

There was talk of the casinos going 100% in May, so it doesn't seem like occupancy restrictions will be a problem. Foreigners getting into the country might be a different story.

+1. Nothing is 100% certain but I agree the plan appears that by October, there will no longer be any occupancy restrictions. I can’t speak to what sort of travel restrictions might still be in place, but it’s clear that as of right now, people are really eager to be getting out and about. I think if there were no occupancy restrictions this summer, the WSOP would have broken records for attendance. By waiting till those restrictions are reduced I wonder... will the fervor to be out and about still be there in October? Will there be some sort of COVID setback? Pushing it back that far opens the door for things to go wrong. However, if all works out, I think this will easily be the biggest WSOP of all time.

I disagree on the 6-max thing. I think rec players are going to be chomping at the bit to play for a bracelet again at a cheap price point. Nit or not, I think it would be a big turnout.

The only way I see 6-max standard is if the regulations require plastic dividers for anything more. We are going on the assumption that those regulations will no longer be in place by October (a reasonable assumption, but still... an assumption). As for whether or not recs would want to pay if its 6-max, I agree. We have had 6-max in my local area for nearly a year and the tournaments are at capacity. I do not think the WSOP will want 6-max, though since that means significantly fewer entries due to throughput, not lack of demand.

All the kinds of players you'd want to be there, would stay home if it's 6 max. So not only would fields be smaller, they'd be tougher. It's moot anyway, because WSOP would be cutting their own financial throat if they did that. I wouldn't mind 9 handed though, being spoiled by the current 8 handed.

I hope it’s 8 or 9 handed but I just don’t buy that a bunch of rec players who haven’t played the WSOP in over two years and have dreams of winning a WSOP bracelet even though they’re on a budget, would balk at that chance because is 6 handed instead of 8 or 9.

I agree if foreign travel restrictions are lifted than 2021 WSOP has potential of breaking attendance records.

I have played WSOP since 2006 but not a pro player. I don’t go all over world or even USA to play poker . I play 4/5 smaller events at WSOP , play all 4/5 Borgata opens and 2/3 time Parx events.

Still I consider myself a recreational player . Yes I would prefer 9 or 8 handed with or without plexiglass. But you are correct if they go 6 or 7 handed it will no be a deal breaker. I will still go to WSOP.

All of the anecdotal evidence I see points to the exact opposite. What makes you think rec players won’t come if 6-max is the only option?

Look at the field sizes during circuit events that have six max as part of the series. Generally they run about the same as similar price point NLHE full ring. Is that a perfect comparison? No. But if Circuit events are rec heavy (I think they are) and if the six max gets a similar number of entries as the full ring NL events, then it stands to reason that six max wouldn't dent attendance that much.

That said, a rec who is willing to plunk down $400-$600 for a circuit event might have second thoughts about sitting down for a six max $10k.

also, small sample size for sure, but I have played the $1500 six max several times and don't see that field as noticeably harder than a standard $1500. Obv tougher than Milly Maker or what have you.

If a rec has a choice between a 6-max and a full ring, they are likely to choose the full ring. We are not talking about that scenario. We are talking about the scenario of 6-max or nothing. I don't think recs will shy away in significant numbers if that comes to pass, but hopefully it won't.

I have many questions

What is the definition of Pro vs Rec ?

In normal WSOP tournaments ( with Runners from 2000 to 25000) what is composition of players % Pro vs Rec?

If one side decide to be absent in majority due to number of seats on the table will it affect the attendance in Big time ?

IMO 80 to 90% are rec vs 10 to 20 % are Pro . ( 20% is very high number for Pro but who and what defines Pro )

Have there been any murmurs or rumors about the WSOP circuit? The 2021/ 2022 season would typically start in August, which is before the WSOP starts. Hopefully they'll be doing a live circuit again soon as well.

If the management is smart they should organize as many circuit events they can before WSOP Events. This way they can run many satellite in different part of USA to award seats in main WSOP to boost the attendance.

I'd be worried about tons of lead-up events draining bankrolls. There's lots of poker money sitting on the sidelines right now, but if players blow through that, it would likely hurt October numbers rather than help. IMO, they would be better off putting out a compelling October schedule which people will have plenty of time to prepare/plan for, and let all that pent up demand be spent then. If we go by prior year timelines, I think we could expect such a schedule within the next 6 weeks or so. Of course, nothing is normal yet, so who knows when it will come out. The sooner the better, though.

They do a season between summer WSOP and already cancelled this year's season. It will start after.

That’s obviously way too far out to know for sure as even the WSOP this year is tentative.

It would depend on a variety of factors including the COVID-19 situation, how successful or unsuccessful it was moving it to fall 2021 (if they have it), convention center bookings, whether or not Caesar’s will move it to the new convention center and, if so, what that schedule looks like, feedback from players and the casinos, and probably a dozen other things I haven’t considered.

If I had to guess, I’d say they would likely go back to a regular summer schedule if everything makes sense to do so.

Its a little different with the circuit. The 6max tourney is usually the toughest field during a series with the fewest entries. But it is usually scheduled on Tuesday in the middle of the week and most rec players schedule to play around the weekend events ($400 multi flight, and Main Event, the 2 largest turnouts each stop). The Monday and Tuesday events during the week are generally filled with regs and serious rec players who took off during the week to play.

I doubt that 6max v 8/9max is a dealbreaker on whether a rec players wants to travel to Vegas to play a couple events.

Fwiw when I was a rec I wanted to play 6-handed so I could play more hands.

Deal breaker might be the urinals.
When I played at the Seminole Hard Rock they had every other one closed down. All I could think of was how could they ever have WSOP with that arrangement.
