Looks like they are ready to announce 2021 Dates.

On their web site starting today they are offering a free WSOP experience sweepstake. ( Feb 15- to April 30) drawing is on May 6th

Is that means they are planning for June/July ?

Main Event level 1 Sat/Sun Sep 4/5 (Labor Day weekend).

Nothing more than believing WSOP organizers are extremely motivated to get a 2021 event planned and off the ground with a minimum of COVID interference.

I hope this is true but have a feeling they will screw it up and try to go too soon before the masses are even eligible for vaccines.

I get that not everyone views the virus and vaccines the same but I think to get a typical experience it will need to be in the late summer at the earliest.

Their previous actions, such as delaying cancelling 2020 even when it was obvious it would never happen.

I think the July 28 through Labor Day scenario will be the correct timeframe. Herd immunity will be here and the people who want to be vaccinated will be vaccinated by mid-July. I booked my Vegas trip yesterday for a week in the middle of August before prices go up. Right now planes and hotels look reasonable. The cost of air travel will increase as fuel prices go up and demand for Vegas hotels will jump as the crowds return to Vegas.

I think you are very close to perfect prediction. As per Governor’ last announcement all the state restrictions will end by May 1st.

My understanding is that the authority to impose restrictions returns to the county in a few weeks. If so, I would imagine restrictions will be lifted even faster than in the state overall.

As for the WSOP. I will be curious what they come up with. Until international travel resumes, it will be nothing like what we have become accustomed to the last decade. But that doesn’t mean it can’t be a great event. My suspicion is it will be a series geared towards the higher buy-in events which I typically don’t play. However just to have it go off would be a welcome sight. And i’m certain the events held at the Venetian or Wynn during that timeframe, and also during the traditional WSOP timeframe will be tremendous.

My wild guess is international players (not counting Canada) is not more than 20% . I think if everyone who wanted to get vaccine did get their vaccines by end of May , many more US/ Canadian players will come than usual.

When in Vegas during Dec I saw many international travelers. If their country does not prevent their traveling to the US I think they will travel to the US in almost the same numbers. I put it at 75% as normal for those allowed.

Poker rooms have been packed across the US when they were allowed to open. It wont be the players that will keep the WSOP small but regulations and what limits are in place. WSOP biggest obstacle is if Plexiglass will be required or not and from the sound of it they may no longer be required before May.

It’s mid March !!

Still there is no indication of dates .
I am giving up on June/July.

August/September looks like a possibility. .

I see many post in different threads that they heard rumors about WSOP Plans , delayed dates , etc etc.

Normally I blame people for spreading this kind of unconfirmed news or Rumors.

But the WSOP management has to be blamed 100% for these news and unconfirmed rumors.

I have never seen any Company or management who cares about their brand and their customers hiding like this ! What are they going to gain by just keeping Silence !!

Really Shame on them .

A public announcement of some kind is must be done if they have shred of respect for their Brand and the customer!

Pl let me know what you all think ?

I have heard rumors ranging from August/September to sometime in October. I'd be pretty surprised if it is in June, like normal.

I, too, would love to know when/if its going to be held. I tend to cut them some slack given the fluid situation. But I agree it would be nice if they at least made some sort of announcement telling the public what their thinking is. I mean, what is there to stop them from telling us what plan A, B and C are, pending finalization?

Anyhow, the Venetian will be holding their MSPT large guarantee events the first couple weekends in June, so I will likely be planning a trip for that timeframe.

I have never played Venetian or WPT events ( Except Borgata as I am from NJ). I will say goodbye to WSOP for now as I feel SUITS don’t care for every day players) . Will definitely plan to play Venetian this summer.

I understand they want to keep their dates in secret during normal time as whole Las Vegas plans their events to get some benefits from WSOP.

But this is not normal times. Most of the players who visits WSOP has their life and family to consider for planning a trip . We are in April now !!

Also Venetian , Hollywood Seminole and WPT are facing almost same situation as WSOP , but they are far more honest and transparent than WSOP

Can you change the thread title? It’s rather misleading and I was disappointed when I looked at the thread and saw there was no announcement or anything.

I think you’re being a bit too harsh on the WSOP, but I believe you will enjoy the Venetian events. They have done a great job, even under the difficult circumstances of the last 9 months.

Expecting to be transparent and ask for information is not being harsh in the month of March or April IMHO.

Yes I will be joining You at Venetian

Just one more thing , I enjoy your post as they are constructive most of the time (:

The thread was started when WSOP announced promotion for free package give away for 2021 WSOP. And then they hide behind the Covid cover due to lack of honesty and transparency

Thanks, Doc! Probably a real nice time to be in Vegas, too.

A couple weeks til they firm things up, it said.

I always like to be positive.
Something good came out of this whole Covid delay.

The best time to visit Las Vegas is after August (:

Sept. 30 to Nov. 23 Would be a pleasant experience 👍

I know September 30th is a long time wait.
Little over 180 days is eternity .

But still little exited to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Played WSOP every year since 2006 ( except for 2020)
In 2006 played main event too !

Planning to play main event this year again after 15 years with 4/5 other small buy-ins which I normally play every year .($500 to $2500).

R u exited ? A little ? What are your plans for 2021 WSOP ?

Thx
