I'm expecting to leave it until December, and just go out for the last UFC card of the year again. 245 was great, and had fun watching my first Ice Hockey game, too.

They have some decent poker on then, though not on the scale of WSOP, obviously. Was quite odd needing to wear trousers/jeans when you leave the casinos, though

I'm sure that the Vegas properties will be very aggressive about re-opening and getting tourists to come back to town. The WSOP is a big draw, not just for the RIO, but for all the other venues that run parallel tournaments. If the City is open for business, I'm sure they will try to not cancel or even delay. If hotel rates are any indication, they are still planning to be open, because rates on rooms are as high or higher than last year, at least for mid-June.

If we make it through April and are on the downside of the famous curve by the start of May, I don't see why they can't be ready to play in June. The biggest issue may be finding dealers who are willing to work. They are at the most risk -- moving constantly between tables, handling all the chips and cards, and being exposed to anyone there who might be infected. All it will take is one or two contageous people and we'll all be at risk. But,that's the way the world will work for the next year, even after the worst is past us.

If we play, expect a Purel dispenser within 20 feet of every table.

I wouldn't rule this out completely, but I think there's probably too much going against it. Even when casinos re-open there are likely going to be some social distancing and crowd-size limitations or recommendations in place for a while. My feeling is Hotels/Restaurants/private business/etc will open first (in May hopefully). Larger scale gatherings (sports, conventions, clubs, etc.) will come sometime later (I would guess July, but its obviously hard to predict).

Of course, one of the bigger attractions in Vegas during the summer is the pool scene. Are people going to be flocking to the pool amid COVID-19 concerns? Just another way in which the COVID-19 outbreak seems to be designed to particularly effect Vegas.

Swimming pool might be the safest place in Vegas, assuming you're swimming, not standing in ankle deep water holding a drink.

Be expecting to see the dumbest **** imaginable. As we know the vegas mopes know no boundries. As for the WSOP I still feel extremely hesitant being around a lot of degenerates. I do not imply being or sounding like a jerk. Just reality

Attended WSOP continuously for last 14 years. This Year I think I am going to skip unless miracle happens. But I don’t see it

Clearly it isn't about "is the WSOP maintained or not?"
The question is: "If they maintain the WSOP, am I crazy enough to go spend days passing cards and chips with tons on different players?". Considering the current uncertainties and how everything will be a **** show when stuff re-open, I am not degen enough to go to WSOP this year.
We won't have a sudden cut off date where it will be ok to resume our normal life (take a flight, go to the restaurant, etc.). That will all happen little by little, with business struggling to come back to where they were, get their employees back, etc.
So WSOP this year? Forget about it!

I was talking to a Las Vegas Casino’s upper management gentlemen whom I am friend for last 10 years . He said their main concern opening very soon (May / June ) along with public health safety is security and legal liability. Due to high unemployment they thinks there might be increase in petty crimes . And mainly there will be thousands of people walking in to casinos with mask on !

Is that (wearing masks in casino) already normal in Macau where thats already part of the culture? If so, they can just transfer a consultant from a casino there to here to bring everybody up to how that changes their procedures.

New Orleans is a huge hot spot and that is early May, no surprise there.

Seems really unlikely its going to happen at this point. I had hoped for a condensed schedule, but when golf tournaments are being cancelled I just can't imagine a scenario other than online they will put on the series.

Putting it online removes almost the entirety of the US player base...few (relatively speaking) are going to travel just to sit in front of a computer in a hotel room.

The big factor for me as well is the passing and sharing of chips and cards. No face mask ( don't protect ) and or latex gloves will save you. there is still close contact.

Earlier tweets implied a decision a month prior. That's about 3 weeks and a lot can happen in 3 weeks.

So currently I am booked May 26 - June 5th for my annual WSOP trip. What do you guys think? Should I push it back until Late June/early July and hope for a delayed schedule, shortened schedule etc. Or just cancel and re-book for the fall and figure even if WSOP runs with a short schedule it will be very lightly attended?

why guess? just wait for an official announcement. you'll be able to change your reservation just as easily 3 weeks from now as you can today.

Forget about the WSOP happening this summer other than online events. Not a chance, unless the politicians and bean counters really don't care how many people get sick and die. In the fall, the virus is expected to be back, so even a late summer or fall reschedule makes little sense.

WSOP 2021 is in jeopardy too, unless they plan for late summer or fall. Even the 2021 summer olympics may not actually happen. This all may seem extreme, and it is, but not out of the question. This pandemic is unprecedented in modern times, but based on mathematical and scientific models these extreme fat tails are realistic.

The sobering reality most policy makers for business and politics don't want to discuss is that large scale gatherings such as live poker tournaments, concerts, sports (with fans in the house), conventions, theater, festivals etc. will not be completely safe from coronavirus until late summer 2021 or even fall 2021, after the virus has run it's natural course and a vaccine has been developed and made available to billions of people. This will likely take approx. 18 months or longer. This is scientific reality, beyond socio-political economic interests, and whatever somebody posts on YouTube .

Until there is a vaccine, and 60%+ herd immunity, one must be willing to risk getting the virus in order to gather in a large crowd. Some people will certainly be willing to take the risk. Others will not. Gov't and business will certainly open venues way before the scientific and medical community thinks it will be safe, because gov't and business will value gov't and business over human life. Same as it ever was (but higher stakes).

Personally, I won't be attending any events with large crowds until I see empirical evidence that it is relatively safe. I'm no guinea pig. Let the bold and fearless take the risks first. That will mean letting a few months of large events take place without significant outbreaks before going there myself.
