All the major sports league has much bigger stake then WSOP . All of them decided to be very proactive and responsible. Compare to them WSOP has greater possibility of attracting bigger crowd for longer period and from wide spectrum of the affected area of the world .

This is trumpian way of facing a real epidemic.

Guys visit CDC website and read informative caution about the virus.

By the way , I have attended WSOP every year since 2006 . I will be attending this year too once everything clears out .

My suspicion is that big events involving venues such as conference centers tend to be booked at least a year in advance.

Have you ever been to a large annual conference? Did they already have next year's date and location scheduled?

They make big money when player visiting for WSOP bring their family and friends with them and they spend $$ on hotel , food , shows , casino etc . I don’t think only income from tournaments registration is enough for them to take the event online .

Listen guys lets deal with facts. Many players who attend the WSOP lack any form of hygiene. Now do I feel good sitting next and among thousands of players for days and 12-16 hours with the current crisis, NO!!
I have a deep passion for the WSOP but I will not be attending and bringing the virus (perhaps) home to my family and fellow citizens if I sense there is any possibility of contamination.
Isolation is the best approach and I will definitely do my part for the betterment of us "ALL".
be smart my friends care about your own wellbeing and it will save many lives and this in turn will bring an end even quicker.

I wish they would go ahead and cancel this thing so I could spend the money I have earmarked.

(I've kinda been spending some of it already.)

To free up more TP money?

Nah, got plenty of that. Just to blow irresponsibly and stimulate the economy. When this amount is in my WSOP roll it doesn't seem like very much. Take the same amount to spend frivolously, it looks like a lot of money. That's probably my clue that I spend too much on the WSOP.

It's not just the cash that I walk into the Pavilion with, it's also the travel expense, the hotel room expense, etc. Add it all up and it looks like an idiotic amount to spend on WSOP every year. I recommend that you do not tally up your expenses.

I wouldn't think they would make that decision before end of April/first of May nor should they.

All the Nevada Casino of Ceasars are closed till April 16th.

Earlier today, the Governor of Nevada, Steve Sisolak ordered all Nevada casinos to suspend gambling and hotel operations through April 16th, 2020, as a precautionary measure due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2020 WSOP will go on as planned. It was decided the Covid-19 virus was a hoax to overthrow the Fuhrer.

I'd take it that the WSOP isn't happening, and just work from that.

World is a long way from getting things under control, and the WSOP should be the least of your worries, imo.

Wouldn't say it's anything to do with that, regardless of whether they do or not.

Just look at the number. They're staggering, and we're in for it this side of the pond, too.

Good luck, everyone. We're in for a rough year.

I think what people keep missing is the concept of "how much time is required to prepare for the WSOP"? This means primarily preparing the venue and hiring staff, but I'm sure there are other considerations too. In any case, whatever this "amount of time" is, it is how much time the WSOP has prior to the start of the event to cancel. I don't know what this amount of time is and I'm sure the folks at the WSOP are considering lots of things, including schedule modification, in order to widen their options. But they know pretty much how much time they need to get ready. And there's no reason for them to cancel until it becomes clear that this window of time will be insufficient given circumstances on the ground with the outbreak.
