Will feel like more of a circuit stop. Itís unfortunate that the days of 1000-2000 players for the 1:00/2:00 deepstacks are probably gone.

I think this is a positive move. It'll definitely reduce the number of times the early DDS tourneys are cancelled/pushed back due to large crowds for the bracelet event that day (Senior's, colossus, etc). The Saturday/Sunday flights of the Big 50 might be the only days that DDS might be cxld/delayed.

It's not that disconnected...they always have tables up there by the pool entrance and by the actual Rio poker room.

Separate cage is an added bonus, along with rest rooms far from the convention area not being overwhelmed by multiple tourney breaks. Smoke shouldn't be a big issue...high ceilings in that area and most of the slots are removed during that time.

I think the bustouts from the bracelet events won't have a problem walking up the hallway to reg DDS...700-950 runners is still nice, but I think they'll hit the 1K in entries a couple of times.

Yup. On balance they might get more entries, e.g. CET makes more money, but there are plenty of scenarios where people down at the WSOP aren't going to schlep all the way up there for a DDS without knowing how long the reg line is, etc. Diamonds won't be happy because they have to wait in long lines with the rest of the proletariat instead of having their own line, which is almost always shorter.

700 or 800 guys all running to the few restrooms in the Masquerade area won't be a picnic. Plus, you can't check on buddies that are in other events, no poker kitchen, etc. The only real benefit I can think of is that they allow early reg, as in days before instead of only day of. They're going to run come hell or high water, so there's no reason to not allow early day reg, other than the software changes it will require. BUT, they won't think of that, so this year, my guess is no early reg.

That's their hope, but no. They won't gain any space, since they were kicking out the DDS anyway when they needed the space.

They're a victim of their own success. I think all their convention space is being used.

I'm not a fan of this, mostly because the WSOP will find a way to screw it up, and players will do things to game the system.

1) It might simply be beneficial to late register, or at least skip a few levels to see if anyone claims the highest bounty early. If that's the case, you might as well skip the event since a huge amount of the value is gone. When exactly do you find out how much you won with a bounty? Do you have to bust first to find out or do they announce it immediately?

2) This event is ripe for a large teams of players to pool their buy ins together and split all bounties. This could lead to some questionable play when a bounty is up for grabs and two players are on the same "team".

3) It might make more sense to simply get a raffle ticket with your own registration number upon entering the tourney. Then when you lose, you give your raffle ticket to the player who busted you. After the conclusion of the tournament, the mystery bounties are drawn and you don't have to be present to collect your prize.

No bounties will be awarded until after registration is over. I know Seth Palansky has said that. I can't remember if it was Twitter or a podcast where I heard that.

Re: 2020 WSOP Schedule

it would have to be that way (bounties after registration over)

otherwise the big bounty would have to be an on time reg and you could use that to your advantage. 'all-in'...guy thinking of calling you...'dont bother calling, i late regged, so i can't be the big bounty'...'oh yea i remember you coming in late - ok fold"

**** like that.

it will be setup in a way that every person is equally likely. that means not assigning them until late. Which might be a pain in the ass if you collect a bounty, then bust early. you might have to come back later to get fully paid.

Last year the Masquerade Village was filled with slot machines (if I have the right area - where the float parade used to be). So they are going to pull out hundreds of slot machines to make way for the daily deepstacks?

I wouldn't bet on it. 2019 version ended on Friday. 2020 announcement states it ends on June 4, which is a Thursday.

Now that travel has been suspended from Europe, Caesars will be looking at how much money they might lose and likely move it. They would probably wait until April or so to see where we stand. I hope.

I looks like at least next 2 months will be very uncertain. Why not be proactive and make it easy for thousands of players .

Given the logistics of the event, I don't think moving it is a realistic option.

Move it on the calendar. It wouldn't do any good to move it physically.

I have always been in favor of having it in the fall instead of the crazy heat of summer. In fact, I think it was in the fall way back in the day. If they can squeeze it in convention-schedule-wise, even with a paired-down number of events, that would be cool IMO.

Re: 2020 WSOP Schedule

It wouldn't be nearly as big in the fall. People with kids can go to Vegas in the summer without taking their kids out of school. The rooms are much cheaper in the summer. It's really not much cooler in September than in June, maybe 5 or 10 degrees at most. So maybe 95 or 100 instead of 105, it's still hot.

I think after July till September is fine.

But it all depends on corporate courage or corporate GREED.

Hard to say. There are lots of poker events around the country which are in more expensive locales (and don't have the cache of the WSOP) which are wildly successful in the fall and winter. Anyhow, I was thinking more along the lines of October/November.

FYI.. here are the average monthly temps in Vegas. October sure does look nice.

My guess is that there are no available spaces to run a month-long event later in the calendar.

How do you define "wildly successful"? 1000, 2000 entries for garden variety dailies? One of the unique things about the WSOP is the possibility of big payouts for low entry costs. Besides, Vegas room prices are too high in Oct/Nov.

Looked like they could delay it a month, maybe more.

The series starts over 2 months from now. By May things and life will be back to normal, all major sports will be back in April. The tournament is fine with its current dates. Just my opinion.

Re: 2020 WSOP Schedule

If I was Caesars I would be thinking about using the new Caesars conference center, Caesars Forum, in a gap period, later in the year. Surely it isn’t booked for the entire calendar year 2020.

https://www.caesars.com/meetings/loc...ion_facilities

Might be a good time to move from Rio for good. An abridged & condensed August or September series on the strip could still be a good option for Caesars and get people into its higher tiered properties.
