What's everybody opinion on the best tournament for somebody wanting to take one shot in the WSOP? First thought was the $500 Freeze out, but also considering $600 Deepstack championship, and Mini Main Event. Also might consider $1500 Millionaire Maker.

For sure the Big 50($500) as long as they didn't make the structure worse since last year.

It depends on how good a player you are. If you're not very good, then Big 50, and hope to get very, very lucky. It's 5 days, so you'll need a mountain of luck to win no matter how good you are.

If you're pretty good, then Millionaire Maker or some other $1500 event. Certainly not a $600 or $800 event, those have too many screwballs and their screwball plays.

So only bad players should play good structured tournaments?

You want to play higher so there isn't many bad players in the tournament?

I don't play many tournaments, but I believe I can hold my own and not do anything crazy. Feel like the Millionaire Maker might have the best value, but Im probably not going to rebuy, which makes me think the mini or $500 Freezeout might be better.

for the love of all that is holy, whichever tournament you decide to play, don't play nitty after level 6 and get blinded out slowly. give yourself a chance to build a competitive stack for a deep run. too many newbie WSOP players don't give themselves an opportunity to make the money or go deep but simply surviving as long as they can, thinking they made an impact by outlasting hundreds/thousands of other players, but always being a small stack. go after it are my 3 words of wisdom. go down fighting for every chip

I don't think there's a single best tournament. Given your first two suggestions, I think you might be most comfortable with a sub-$1000 buy-in from the value menu. If you prefer a freezeout, June 15 is your only option. If you want to dream big, just pick whichever tournament in your price range is likely to have the biggest first prize.

I'm tempted to recommend the $1K super turbo bounty, but the tournament which seems to excite the casual players I know the most is the mystery bounty. It's the only one that keeps getting brought up at tables. The $250K bounty means that it might be your best shot at a significant payday, since you don't need to get near the final table to hit it.

Event 1 is a freezeout but it's $1000.

If I was only playing one, I'd give the mini-main a spin. Played it last year, and it was really good fun. Most of the tables I had were a good mixture of players, and a big lump up top.

Played the 600$ deepstacklast year and cashed but it is such a crapshoot. I don't recommand.

I played the Milli Maker and cashed: the strucutre is much much better. I recommand.

The big50 is pretty good to. In between both event i feel. But it is very crowded and can be a pain to register, get your seat, etc.

I have nothing to say about the mini main and the freezeout as I didn't see the structure.

You might want to consider the monster stack: one of the best value.

I'm partial to all the really large field events because I typically do well and there are tons of bad players (myself included). Last year I went really deep in both the Big 50 and the $600 Deepstack Championship so my vote would be to choose one of those.

Whichever you choose, make sure to register early enough so you don't have to wait in the ridiculous lines.

Anyone have an idea on when the structure sheets are going to be released? We're less than 3 months away and I'd like to start planning some trips.

Last year it was at the end of February so we can hope that it will be very soon.

I cashed in 2018. The bubble broke at the end of day 1. We actually didn't know we were in the money while bagging and got the confirmation when coming back on day 2. Pretty anticlimactic.

Looks like they are doing deepstack $250 HORSE tourneys every Monday.

Daily deep stacks in Masquerade Village? Good move or bad move?

As someone who plays deep stacks + the 400-1000 buyins during the summer I’m slightly disappointed. Masquerade seems very disconnected from the rest of the WSOP atmosphere. Will feel like more of a circuit stop. It’s unfortunate that the days of 1000-2000 players for the 1:00/2:00 deepstacks are probably gone.

I think the decrease in atmosphere is offset by the increased ease of registration for all events, allowing them to be on a separate break schedule, etc.

Does this carve out more space for them to use for the huge multi day value menu tournaments, making those less likely to be complete messes?

Also, that might make some room for the single table satelites. It was the first thing to be sacrified when they didn't have dealers or tables.
Many players, me included, love playing them. They are fun and profitable.
