Re: 2020 WSOP Schedule

Casinos are HOPING to open at the end of May. If they do, it will be with the 4 max guidelines. A WSOP playing 4 max is untenable, so it depends how quickly the Gaming Control Board relaxes things. CET has mentioned "a month" timeframe for a decision before, so the guidelines would have to be eased by September. It's pretty hard to tell how quickly things would move AFTER the casinos open. Probably a lot depends on how empty the casinos remain after they open again, and how much resultant pressure is put on the governor and Gaming Control.

The governor is not up for election, but there is a recall effort. If it gains traction, that's another factor that may speed up opening.

There is ZERO chance of a recall of Gov. Sisolak at this point.

awfully convenient that the governor's shutdown orders makes it essentially impossible to gather the required number of signatures for the recall to move forward

Re: 2020 WSOP Schedule

I'm guessing the governor still has strong union support because he's protecting workers from greedy billionaires and soulless corporations.

On the other hand, I think casino worker unions might lend their hands to an effort to recall Goodman.

Coincidental, not convenient. Convenient implies it was intentional. Almost all 50 state's governors have shut down their states.

Whatever Casinos Penn National Gaming owns, those Casinos opened this past week.

Lauberge in Lake Charles reopened but poker room was *closed.

Re: 2020 WSOP Schedule

How much did WSOP lose in circuit and summer event buy-ins? Is it near enough for them to lobby the other way and get national online poker?

Re: 2020 WSOP Schedule

ESPN is showing last year's WSOP. It's in the time normally meant to hype the current year's event, but this year it's only taunting us.

Re: 2020 WSOP Schedule

Sure sucks for the casinos to have almost no notice. For the employees too.

Re: 2020 WSOP Schedule

Most casinos opening this Thursday June 4th. There was 2 police officer involved shootings last night, but it appears the casinos will still open. Possibly some of the luxery shops might stay closed for a bit. If WSOP did run in late fall it would be a little while before that could be confirmed.

Re: 2020 WSOP Schedule

When I search Vegasmeansbusiness.com, it shows Oct 20-22 as the International Airport GSE Expo at the Rio, but other dates are open. No idea if there are smaller events that would occupy only a small portion of the venue. OTOH, if you extend your search of that site, it doesn't list WSOP at all for 2021, and I recall seeing an announcement that WSOP officials were planning on WSOP being at the Rio through at least 2021. So, I guess there's still hope for something, although the fields and atmosphere just won't be the same as
a summer series, when more recs are taking vacations.

Re: 2020 WSOP Schedule

They're cheap in December, though, pig4bill.

Online & wsop.com & GG all summer, and hopeful for some form of live in Nov/Dec.

https://www.pokernews.com/news/2020/...dule-37396.htm

Ty Stewart -

"We are still hopeful the traditional WSOP may be played November-December and for all of our partners are considering this a brand extension versus a pure replacement, he told PokerNews. He also revealed that all official ITM statistics (cashes, final tables, etc.) will be tracked and reported, and that player identities would be validated.

Re: 2020 WSOP Schedule

Between higher room prices and that being a busy time of year at work (prepping tax forms) I may have a very abbreviated Series, if I go at all.

Might have to just wait till next year.
