Since they are insisting on running the Main with the BBA, it frees up money for me to use on the stud variants and the smaller O8 events around town. The question now is whether I will just be extending the current trip or if I am going to do like last year and have three or four trips with a day or two in the office in between them...
In my case, I already booked the flight tickets (non-refundable) and got my annual leave approved. Gonna be there 3 and a half weeks. I think Wednesday June 12 will be the $1.5k Stud Hi event since the $10k Stud Hi Championship is on Monday June 17. Still, not gonna make more commitments until the full schedule is up.

I agree that there are some negatives in the game play when tables are short, but that affects everyone equally and the TDs don't really care, so they will do what is easy for them, so I'm resigned to it.

Ditto - If the Greens are in fact eliminated the 2.5 open raise will become the Dodo bird of the Poker world - I for one will miss it as my open range bets was 2.5 to 3.5. Not earth shattering, not game changing but irksome if so.

In most levels you still can. You can still open for 500 or 700 at 100/200 for example. I’d like to be able to open to 250 at 100/200 but the benefits of not having to race off the green, or have people betting 4175 (yes very deep considerations make 4175 soooo much more optimal than 4100 or 4200), having faster stack countdown on allins etc. outweigh the need to go 250 at 1/2 imo.

FYP but yep, there is no stopping this and it does simplify things.

I saw a dealer wearing a WSOP bracket at PH last year. Pretty bad-ass if you ask me.

Of course, it isn't always easy to schedule things perfectly with the non NHL events since NLH continues to be where the profits are made and a room isn't gong to forego NLH revenue in order to make a perfect schedule
While you are certainly correct that they have 'no reason' to coordinate, ALL of the series benefit from some manner of coordination. None of them want to dilute the pools any more than necessary. Nobody benefits when there are (for example) three different O8 events going on during the same day.

for a much smaller mixed game crowd. But it was good to see both the Venetian and Wynn increase their available space last year. I assume they will do so again this year, which only means more opportunity for offering events to a wider audience.
I liked the events in the space that Venetian had last year, although it sucked with the HP convention killing the easy walkway into the poker area. The mini food court that Venetian had was a good first-year start...hoping they build on that.

When does pre-registration officially begin? I don't want to make travel arrangements and then not be able to get into the tournament I want, or have the dates moved around.

The online registration will likely be available by the beginning of May. The entire schedule should be available for registration by that time. Beyond that, most events are of a nature that you could use the kiosks in the lobby a day before an event (paying by credit card) and STILL not be in danger of being shut out of the event...

By that same time, the event schedule SHOULD be firmed up for ALL of the various series going on around town. WSOP events are the only ones that will likely give you online pre-registration options though...at least based on what has been the case in previous years. However, as far as I know, the other series would allow you to register in advance prior to the day of the event although I have never had a problem with being shut out by waiting for the day of the event, even for some like a Seniors event that might have a larger draw.

I would expect the schedules for all casinos to be firmed up by end of march or April. People need to plan etc.

Yes, it would definitely be in the way of my next colonoscopy.
Perhaps I should switch to a 4 leaf clover to lesson the post tourney trama.

You just have to run so good to get deep in the mega field events and pure skill can only take us so far.

Couldn't agree more with the last statement.

Why are those bad?

Also, I'm excited - all NLHE events at WSOP confirmed to be Big Blind Ante. No more watching people fumble out 400 chips for 45 seconds per hand!

I feel your pain...the Stud8/O8 event starts the same day as the Marathon and the 2-7 Triple Draw is same day as the Seniors event. Admittedly, without knowing structures at this point, the conflict may wind up not being a conflict.

Am guessing many will have similar feelings about some of the other overlaps...
