Ante only would take forever. Although I guess you could make antes huge and turn the games into showdowns.

I think it’s hard to say. Pots which have fewer chips may be contested less. Lesser-contested pots take a lot less time to complete, so you get more hands in. And this would seem to lead to faster attrition. In any case, i think the dynamics are complicated enough that we can’t say for certain whether one structure or another would lead to faster breakdown rates. There are too many factors which are at odds. But of course, the reality of it could be determined by those who wanted to.

This has been one of my gripes about how the BBA, in particular, was rolled out to the public. Every one of the venues which promoted it in the beginning had the wherewithal to study its effects on game dynamics, hand frequency and breakdown rate... you know, all the tangible things people (and venues) might be interested in when considering a significant structure change to all NLH tournaments. But instead all we got back then was informal polls of players who were either disinterested or ignorant of all of the aspects of the change.

Of course smaller pot hands complete quicker. But their individual effect on player attrition is significantly less than large pots with a lot of chips committed.

Another way to look at it: using normal progressions what type of play would extend completion of the event the longest? What type of play would shorten the event the quickest?

You guys are ruining this thread. This is NOT a BBA thread. Stick to the topic, please.

How the hell did this thread become BBA focused? Please enough.

Anyone got an idea what dates the Orleans usually runs their summer event. If I recall they had a seniors series separate from their main series

I apologize for my role in straying from the WSOP schedule topic. As for your posting a question about the Orleans event, I’m sorry, can’t help you there.

I got one event opening I would like to fill the week of June 11 - 18. Looking for PLO or senior event outside the WSOP. Kinda hoping Orleans and or Binions has something my free days.

The Venetian had a seniors event the Tuesday before the series event which was on Thursday.
The Goliath event was the Saturday after the Rio.
The Aria had a seniors the day before the Rio and also the Sunday after.

Tis the week for seniors. lol I'm assuming the other venues are going to do the same, in some manner, this year and have scheduled as such.

The Orleans was the week after, the 24th of June.

The Nugget had theirs on that Thursday of the Rio event.

Doing this helps me to clarify for myself, thanx for asking.

The structures have been released for the mixed events. $15Amazing amount of play for the $1500 and lower PLO events. Much better than last year.

Some people like to talk about the BBA in the WSOP schedule thread. Other people like to talk about Orleans events in the WSOP thread. I’m not sure I see the distinction.

In any case, regarding “arguing”. It takes two to tango, or so I’ve heard.

Can you play wsop events while visiting Vegas, even you are not a Nevada residence?

I have not looked to see if they have the registration live on Bravo yet, but that is where you will find the link.

Once you have registered the first time online, you will have a desk in the rotunda to go to and prove you are you (make sure you have the card WITH you along with the TR card and proof of address). After that first time, you can do the other events and get the registration slips from the FasTrak kiosks in the rotunda area.

Unless something changes this year, WSOP remains the only series that you can do the online registration for...and will likely be the only one allowing credit card payment.

Good point. I consider any venue during the time frame as part of the WSOP experience. Everything not WSOP is a branch to the mega event.

Am I correct that not all of the structure sheets for all of the events are available yet? I’m just trying to plan ahead to know which days I need off from work to be able to come and play a tournament. Thanks in advance.

They are up in so far as to how long the events will be. Also if you click on the event it will tell you the levels, chips and other characteristics.

Still don't see the small side events on website that are listed on the Cardplayer site under the WSOP schedule.

If you're speaking about the deepstacks, satellites, and whatever, they seemed to bring them in late as per last year. It appears to be a work in progress.

Last year the Venetian ran a two-day Seniors event the Wednesday-Thursday before the WSOP Seniors started on Friday. The Golden Nugget ran a seniors event on that Thursday ($250) which had such a big turnout that they had alternates waiting for seats. PH ran a seniors one-day event on the Saturday (the same day as Day #2 at the Rio) for $600. All week there should be seniors events going on. Watch the master schedule sheet for details, but so far none of the other venues have posted schedules.
