Based on your experience, how much is "so much more" play?

We never scrimp on good structures, not to worry!
It's Thursday, think we passed "early next week", any help?

Hope the Steve Wynn news doesn't affect the property or poker at Wynn/Encore.

Business as usual around here. We will continue to do what we do and appreciate everyone who supports the poker room and all of our events. Hope to see everyone in the coming weeks for the Spring Classic!

The poker rate is available for most days. There are a few black out days at this point however, due to the hotel being at capacity.

Please email us at poker.reservations@wynnlasvegas.com to inquire about dates and availability.

Thanks for the great tournaments by Wynn,

I would like to say the #1 issue for myself and the players I know is we like to atleast get 2x the buy in for minimum payouts, thats recs and pros. We mostly play poker tournaments for the action and prefer 10% minimum payout, and never even play 15% payout structures.

Very much like the 1 day 100k, great turnout for the summer

I believe a payout structure can be devised which pays the min-cash ~2x the buy in, still has a large number up top and in the final three, and still pays a larger percentage of the field (12%, if not 15%). Its just in such a structure, the middle class gets squeezed a bit and the structure is flatter until you get nearer to the final table. I, for one, am fine with that. A flatter payout structure in the middle also leads to shorter tourneys, which is a bonus.

I don't see how the flatter payout structure in the middle lead to shorter tourneys . What is really happening is that the extra 5% payouts or 50% more being paid is taken from the body of the players and has little or nothing to do with the payouts being flattened.

In a tournament certainly the payouts will be flattened such that more will be paid , for example at 4x the buy in whereas in the 10% a goodly portion of them would or could be paid 5x or 6x the buy in.

Perhaps your experience shows that flatter payoffs for longer periods of time causes the players to become more risky after reaching a level of pay, therefore you will be waiting for their chips but that's an individual matter, not germane to the issue.

A better approach would be to say that with the 15% payoff versus the 10% and also less than 2x the buy in for cashing , the payoffs become more meaningless as the tournament directors insure that the final table looks enriched, having nothing to do with the mathematics, while the underlings get bupkis, relatively speaking.

There's no free lunch and to insure that 8 million is paid to the winner each year, as a matter of advertising, that portion is taken from those who play, not the house. The house gives back nothing, zero.

Is the Spring Classic going to be held in the same lounge area as last Summer?

Yes. Some of the midweek dailies may be held in the poker room, but the majority of events will be held just outside the poker room.

You might consider a somewhat different strategy when it comes to scheduling your 1600 Main Events during the WSOPc stops. My thoughts on this matter arise from my own particular scheduling situation, but I don't see any reason why it couldn't apply for many others as well. The bottom line is, I am only able to take off one work week (and perhaps a day or two more, if it becomes necessary) to travel out to Vegas during the WSOPc.

As it stands, you ME is well after the WSOPc ME and the Venetian ME is before, starting today. Now, if someone is inclined to play the WSOPc ME and either yours or the Venetian, then then can decide which based on their schedule or tournament/location preference. That's fine. But I would guess there are lots of people who, like me, would be inclined to play both, if not for the scheduling constraints. If your ME were this weekend (with starting days Thu/Fri/Sat, or whatever), I would have played your event this year. Another option would have been to have your ME day 2 on Friday (2/23) this year. That's the first day 1 of the WSOPc ME, and squeezing yours in here would cause a little overlap with the Venetian's day 1B and 1C. But if someone were looking to fire bullets at each, they would certainly be able to.

Now, I don't know what the WSOPc schedule will look like next year, but they typically have 2-3 Vegas stops in the season. I usually visit Vegas a couple times a year for these and would love to play some Wynn events, especially your ME. But I can't be taking as much time off as I do in the Summer, so it becomes difficult when the events are so spread out.

Something to consider when planning future events.

BTW, for what its worth, the reason I chose the Venetian over yours this year is that your day 2 Is a full week after the WSOPc ME day 2, and the Venetian's day 2 is the day before the WSOPc ME starts, so playing two events in a week is possible with the Venetian and not so much with yours.

It's also on WPT Rolling Thunder, which may take away some of the player pool from one or the other. We'll see how many players make the trip to SAC from LA, and how many return to Vegas.

Thanks for the suggestion. Believe it or not, we evaluated exactly this for this year. We've also considered going directly after, and starting on Sunday or Monday. Will see how this year goes and go from there.

I am hoping you have a $1100+ Between the milly maker and double stack.

Literally no good tourneys on between 11th-15th June.

Venetian doing their $1600 between double stack and monster stack according to the mspt website.

Having played one of them last week, I did not see any increase. What was interesting was the two players to my left who consistently claimed it was such a time saver were ALSO the ones who had to consistently be reminded to post their big blind and ante.

Contrast that to HORSE at Rio the day before where we had next to no issues with antes being posted (despite many at the table having little experience with live stud games and the antes that go with it) and I am now officially NOT a fan of the big blind ante.

While the run in HORSE was not as deep as I would have liked, I DID have a good run in the $550 (essentially bubbling) so it was not like I only had a few hours to draw my comparison.

Side note: for those playing at Wynn, expect the stupid bag checks entering the poker room. Makes absolutely ZERO sense to wait until someone is that deep into the property to look at a bag. Makes even LESS sense when you see a tournament player more than once on the same date. Inconveniencing players is rarely a good thing...especially when there is precisely zero levels of safety being provided by the inconvenience.

I also dislike the big blind ante but it seems as if the momentum is with the change.

I find the biggest delay with normal antes is not players forgetting to post them but the dealer having to give change.

That is as much a problem with the players as anything else...I've never had a problem with getting someone to make change in advance or, alternately, that the players do it themselves at one end of the table (ie. 25 ante, one player with no 25's puts out a 100 and takes the three 25's back and tells dealer the single chip represents seats 1-4).

Agree with this. The players could definetely speed things up by getting change with each other.

Luv the big blind ante only format after playing a couple. Heard the same from most players I spoke with, this is the future structure of tourney poker, bank on it.

Played one this week at Wynn. I’d like it better if antes didn’t start on level 1, however, I did enjoy not having to personally be responsible for that activity every hand. It was a smoother feeling/process at the end of the day.
