That was my plan when I had contemplated Gold Coast last year...one spends VERY LITTLE time out of doors when using that entrance.
The walk simply isn't that big of a deal.
This is true; as one who made the walk many times post surgical with a cane for a prop, OK now no cane: the Dr Meh appears to have something in his head which won't let go.
DR. Meh, awhile back I was under the impression that you didn't stay at the Gold Coast but walked in, declared it dirty and unforgiving and proceeded to walk out and did not stay at the Gold Coast.
The walk outside to the Rio is easy, through the indoor parking and across the street to the side entrance, not that far. The other side of the walk is through the casino to the convention center which is the same distance which someone who stays at the Rio has to walk.
Walk, again, across the street from the rooms at Bally's to the poker room at the Bellagio and note the distance. The walking distances on the strip are no shorter, even if going from one casino to its mate.
The heat is basically a non factor or only marginal; I have the most trouble with the heat when I had to wait for a bus from Harrah's to the Rio only to be cut out due to overflow. Walking in the heat(within reason) is much preferable to standing for that ephemeral bus in queue ; cab or Uber/Lyft will come to the rescue.
