You've got a choice between the $565 PLOssus and the $365 PLO Giant.

sweet! Although I just play for fun, I imagine the edges in those 365 tournies must be massive for anyone with a basic PLO understanding.

I imagine that the average BAL will be .25 and a large number of pots will be 3 or 4 way all ins

Re: 2018 WSOP

Also, what have people's experiences been like in the 1k one drop? seems like a good alternative to things like the colossus and monster stack. interesting timing during the main event too, i know they did it as the final event last year, but with other events running after it this year it will be interesting to see what that does to the turnout

I'm not a fan of NLH tourneys with 10K chips or fewer. Its not that the structure is too fast, its just that it leaves little room for early problems.

The 1.1K One Drop is definitely much better than the colossus, but not as good as the MS.

Some info might be dated (like the free shuttle from ballys stuff), but... https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/6...ht=wsop+hotels

awesome thank you for the help on both this and the one drop. i would love to play the monster stack but can't make it out to vegas at that time so the one drop might just be my best option.

Good luck. Also, I would guess the Venetian will once again be holding an $1100 event (which, IMO, has better structure) in and around the One Drop timeframe. So that could be an alternative, or additional event.

I imagine they'll be releasing their schedule some time next month. When its available, I will post it on this thread...

I played the $1k mega into the $10k plo/8 last year. You really only have one or two hands if you lose then you are really short stack.

Re: 2018 WSOP

Hello everyone,

I am going to LV in june to play some WSOP PLO events.

The first one is the #19 event 565$ re-entry and I can entry either at 10 am or at 5 pm.

What time would you recommend if you want a field as soft as possible?

I think poker pros should play at 5pm because they normally play at night, but on the other hand, we should find some businessmen who just finished their work and want to play poker on friday night.

So what do you think?

Thank you for your advices!

Re: 2018 WSOP

This may sound like a very stupid question, but where can I find the structures for the various tournaments? I'm probably just being stupid but I don't see anywhere at the WOSP website that shows this info.

Both flights will be soft. Played the first flight last year and bagged big stack. Fields will both be amateur heavy with a few pros mixed in. First flight will be a little better, but both will be super soft. Good luck!

Anyone who played the $2500 OE have any comments on it? I imagine strength of field is pretty high in this one?

I have not played that exact event, but I can say that over the years I have played in various of the mixed events and I initially expected (like your assumption) that only the stronger/strongest players would participate.

All my experience says it simply isn't true! It probably is fair to say there is a higher % of good solid players but there seems always to still be plenty of average/weaker players, and usually a good smattering of players who literally don't even know the games and just reg. because that is what's on at the WOSP that day! You gotta be in it to win it!

My favorite tourney, it definitely has higher percentage of solid players.
Table draw has a great impact on how deep you make it.

Thanks for the response. Ya, I played the 10k plo8 last year...I would consider myself a solid but not world class plo8 player, and there were a good amount of players far far worse than me. Many world class nlh players that were playing it just to play, and had no idea what they were doing.

Re: 2018 WSOP

I know many people are probably oppose to the single re entry they added to most $1500 mixed games. But curious why they didn't add the single re entry to the $1500 8-game? They added it to dealers choice and to the plo8 events, but not 8-game.

looks like the wsop is using the BB ante for the big one for One Drop $1 million tourney.

it looks interesting and can speed up the ante rounds, BB basically post double what the big blind is for that level. Makes defending the big blind more interesting since you have more invested.

looks like you will pay less per round with bb ante than normal ante tourney in the later rounds.

In the specific tournament you are observing that may be true but the structure is independent of the posting of the ante by the big blind.

The big blind ante facilitates dealer work and its been conjectured that it increases hands by 5-6 hands per hour, within consideration of the conventional ante system, of course.

A big blind ante can be placed within a fast structure of any level length. Its all about the dealer and speed of the tournament and so it still pays to observe the structure and its effects.

.
Conjectured by whom? And using what methodology? 5-6 hands per hour would represent a minimum of 14% and perhaps as high as 25% increase in the number of hands per hour being dealt (depending on how many hands per hour you get dealt normally). You seriously think changing the ante-ing procedure will generate those kinds of gains? I mean, does collecting antes really take roughly 1/5 the length of time of the entire hand? I think that's a bit far-fetched.

In any case, there really should be no need to have conjecture. These venues run tons of tournaments. They should track how many hands they get in using the old system and compare it to the BB ante-system. It would not be hard to set up an experiment which accounts for variables and gets data from a large enough sample.
