Diamond status means the resort fees will be waived.

I believe there are over 100 casinos in Las Vegas city limits, so I'm not sure where you get your 90% figure. That being said, corporations certainly own the majority of the mega-resorts. And if you add in the Sands Corp, which owns the Venetian/Palazzo, I think it would be fair to say that 5 large entities own the majority of gaming outlets in LV. But if you ask me, that's actually a pretty high number and indicative of a fairly good business environment, at least from a competition standpoint.

Well, then lucky for you there are ample other corporations for you to patronize, as you mentioned.

Gambling Losses
NOW You can deduct gambling losses but only up to the amount of any gambling income during any given year.

NEW PLAN The bill clarifies that people (including many professional gamblers) who also deduct wagering expenses, such as the cost of travel to and from a casino, must add those expenses to their total losses before comparing that sum to their total taxable winnings for the purpose of making the overall deduction calculation. This clarification does not apply to expenses that gamblers incur beyond 2025.
I believe the new TRUMP PLAN no longer allows expenses to be carried forward in the event you have a losing year from gambling. In the past, if you had 100k in wins and 110k in losses and 20k in expenses, (for net loss of 10k) you could carry the expenses into the next year. So if in the next year you had 100k in wins, 50k in losses and 15k in expenses, your net is now 100-50-15-20= 15k. Under Trump's plan, you cannot use 20k in year 2, it is lost forever and you have to pay tax on 35k winning in year 2, not 15k.

Re: 2018 WSOP

I'm looking at the 2018 WSOP schedule, and the most striking thing to me is the number of WSOP events that are running after the start of the Main Event. This presumably is a stategic change to persuade people to stay on at that part of the summer. That's quite appealing to me personally ... one problem with scheduling a trip for the Main event was that one knew there wasn't much WSOP action available in case of an early bust in the ME.

I wonder what the effect will be on attendance over the whole series though -- if I came for Main Event plus post-Main events, then I c/wouldn't come for earlier events.

So many events this year ...

I think this will prove to be very successful and smart targeting.

On average 20000 to 30000 (Players,Families, Friends etc ) visit WSOP during the week of Main Event.

Once the player is knocked out of main event they (Players,Families and Friends) loose interest and venture to the other properties in the city. (As there is nothing exiting going on at Rio for them).

Most of the players (and many of them are from out of USA) has their Air tickets, hotels and travels plan much longer then their knockout moment at WSOP.

I think events after the starts of Main Event will definitely corner this market

Which tournament would be best for somebody wanting to take a shot at a WSOP event? The Colossus or The Giant (If it matters, I would probably have to play the last starting day for The Giant, because I wouldnt be in Vegas long)

More expensive but if you can/want to do it the $1500 Monster Stack would be the best

Looks like it. I like that it appears to be no reentry as well. Thanks guys, I will consider this as well.

Agree if you want a bracelet event. If you just want to play something at the WSOP, play the early daily Deepstack.

Does an SNG schedule ever exist? I always hear something vague like "they're always running" but that seems overly vague and hard to believe.

Can I literally show up any time and be seated into an SNG pretty quickly? What buy-in levels are offered?

$125 and up..

You can buy as many sng tickets as you like and just sit in on the table that gets started. This way you dont have to go back in line to purchase another sng ticket. If you have tickets left over that you dont play, you can just get a refund.

As above, in the previous years it was difficult as they had an attendant hold up the lines and channel everyone to the appropriate tables and even demand monies for the same.

This was so much easier as you buy the ticket and wait at the table which will have a sign on it. Obviously the $125's will go off more often than the $500's but I think this method actually facilitates more $500's than in the old case. If it doesn't, get a refund.

The busy-ness and availability of the SNGs does vary (considerably) in practice according to the time of day and what else is going on at the WSOP but ... still ... it's basically a reasonable statement to say that they are running all the time and especially if you want a $125 NLH ....

Pretty much. The only dead period where you may not see any start is around 4-8 am.

I wonder if crypto will revive the WSOP a little bit.

I'm hoping they have another low buy in PLO event, I'd like to play that one this year.
