Check the fine print-last year or 2 years ago they tried a bounty tournament and planned to give out tournament chips for the bounty($500 chips only to be used in a future tournament). They had to demur as the time after the bounty didn't allow anyone to play for it was late in the series.
But again, see whether you get cash or tournament chips.

I played the $1,500 bounty MTT back in June. The bounties were special $500 chips that you redeemed at the pay-out cage. They didn't count in your reported winnings so even better. They were definitely NOT the tournament entry chips from the sit-n-gos.

Good to hear, it could have been 3,4,5 years ago when they planned to pay in tournament chips but there was an uproar and thankfully they are playing it straight.

Anyone familiar with the structures of the non-bracelet events? I'm talking about the cheap $150-250 events they run twice per day.

Yes, those. They actually have tournament numbers if you read the brochures they have at the registration/cash-out cage. Thanks for the link.

Do they still charge the "Resort Fee" of $30 per night? I booked rooms at zero per night via my TR card but still have to pay the resort fee. So while they say the room is free, it is actually still $30 per night. Still a very good deal but not $"0".

Re: 2018 WSOP

On separate note, I heard that you can no longer deduct loses against winnings under the new tax bill.

In other words, if you play in five different event at $1,500 each for a total of $7,500 and bust in 4 of them and cash for $10,000 in the 5th one, you are taxed on the entire $10,000.

Did anyone else hear this?
If true, will people play in less events?

If you are Diamond or above No charge!

My 2 stays total 10days will cost me $"0" .

That's why I went for Diamond.

Not true according to this article:

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/12/16/y...n-changes.html

It states:

Gambling Losses
NOW You can deduct gambling losses but only up to the amount of any gambling income during any given year.

NEW PLAN The bill clarifies that people (including many professional gamblers) who also deduct wagering expenses, such as the cost of travel to and from a casino, must add those expenses to their total losses before comparing that sum to their total taxable winnings for the purpose of making the overall deduction calculation. This clarification does not apply to expenses that gamblers incur beyond 2025.

Last year before WSOP started I was Gold levels. I tried to upgrade my levels with various method. I was able to reach platinum through My TR Visa card offer. Then by this October I reached Diamond. For 2017 WSOP my hotel cost was (10 days ) around $900.

2018 Cost will be $"0"

I mainly followed this thread : Two Plus Two Poker Forums > 2+2 Communities > Las Vegas Lifestyle> Diamond in a Day -. CET Total .

It was a big help.

It's more than that by the time they add sales tax to the resort fee.

Re: 2018 WSOP

Four Queens doesn't have resort fees and likes to comp rooms, if you don't mind slumming it.

Red Rock comped my brother a two-room suite with a living room and kitchen area for this years WSOP. Total cost of $0 to him. He lost a few thousand to them last year and that's what motivated them to do it. I'll be staying with him for WSOP and living it up in the fancy room. It's a really nice place to stay but a fair distance from the Rio. They have a good comp program and a nice casino. I highly recommend if you don't mind the drive to the Rio. Takes about 20-30 minutes to get there.

It's all about the players club. At Four Queens, there isn't a poker room so you play slots and blackjack to accumulate points. I lost $500 there over the course of 3 days and ever since, they send me offers for 3-4 nights free every month.

Same with Red Rock. Sign up for the players card and use it for points, gamble a certain amount and they'll start mailing you offers. With my brother, he gambled enough where he can just call them and tell them how many nights he wants and they'll give it to him. He's far from a big spender but they know he gambles and with gambling revenues down lately, they want as many gamblers there as they can get.

He did but even had he won, they would still offer comps just to try to win it back. They just want you to stay to gamble knowing if you win one trip, you'll lose it all back the next. The house always wins long term.

Re: 2018 WSOP

If you're getting comped at Red Rock you can probably also get rooms at the Palms, which is a lot closer to the Rio.

Re: 2018 WSOP

If you are staying over 6/8 days during WSOP, it pays to be upgraded to Diamond. Every one has different way of reaching there. If you don't have time
to go though process then think about Founder's Card as that will guarantee you Diamond Status for $395 or under. (You can bargain with them for initiation fee) .

* Just a clarification "I didn't use Founders Card to achieve Diamond status.
