No. Must go through bravo process first and then register online

And pay 3.5% in fees.

With the banks being closed tomorrow, you may have to resort to using one of those cash transfer apps and finding someone with a pocketful of lammers to sell. Alternatively, visit the main cage at the hotel you're staying at and see if they will advance you the money.

Not really related to the 2018 WSOP necessarily, but did Dan Kelly aka djk123 stop playing poker? I can't remember reading his name on PokerNews all summer.

Interesting that entry numbers at nearly every event were down from last year yet the main event is going to have an increase.

2016 was the first year with a 50K starting stack. It had been 30K for a few years after traditionally being only 10K

Re: 2018 WSOP

I've scored and tracked structures since 2015. Here's what I have for WSOP Main Event:

2015 -- 290 S-Points
2016 -- 339 S-Points
2017 -- 339 S-Points
2018 -- 339 S-Points

It got better in 2016 and hasn't changed since.

Banks being closed would not preclude the use of even a non-rewards debit card. But beyond that, we GET it...you place ZERO value on your time wasted in line and you apparently have no clue how to maximize the credit card rewards.

Oh no!! You used to be able to count on Phil Ivey not to succumb to the sunglasses insanity, but he's wearing them today. So sad.

I just looked him up on Hendon and he has no cashes since the WSOP ME in 2016 so looks like he hasn't played the WSOP the last two years. I got to play with him for all of day1 in his last cash in that 2016 WSOP ME. He was very quite and played extremely tight much to my surprise.

Anybody know if djk123 retired? I can't find any update info on here or google.

They are using the shufflers on the tv tables. Never noticed that before.

Were the chips larger at the FT of main event? they looked like cookies when they would put them in the pot.

The highest two denominations are indeed bigger than normal chips.

Re: 2018 WSOP

The Pavilion Room and Brasilia Rooms have been broken down.

The last Daily Deepstacks are running today. Yesterday's 1 PM attracted only 267 runners, down from the peak of 1,252 on June 26th.

Almost time to call curtains on the WSOP.

I had a blast. Hoping to return next year.

Re: 2018 WSOP

Interesting the decline in Daily Deepstack entries over the years. I think many players have concluded what I did - that if you don't FT, it just isn't worth the time investment. Payouts are too top heavy. I played exactly zero of them this year.

Its the 15% pays , that money to pay the extra 50% comes from somewhere and gets sucked out from the middlings. Its the same with the higher buy ins only the winning numbers are a glare just as in the deep stacks.

The tournament director can inveigle and insure that the tops look good because there's always next year.

Re: 2018 WSOP

Just saw an article about Caesars breaking ground on a $375 Million Conference Center for 2020. Wonder how much space is used at the Rio for the WSOP.

From the article (because I’m a nit and don’t know how to include the link):

The 550,000-square-foot Caesars Forum will be located behind the LINQ, Harrah’s and Flamingo and connect with them via walkways.

I wouldn't get my hopes up that they move the WSOP. Wherever they host the WSOP in vegas the poker players will go. Convention space on the strip is more valuable than at the RIO for non-poker events. I doubt they would open brand new convention space on the strip, move the WSOP there and leave the rio convention space empty. Moving the WSOP to the strip i don't think really does anything for them.

Re: 2018 WSOP

Agree - but interesting to think of the positives that could exist if a move were to ever happen.

Such as: greater variety of food options within a closer space, more/larger restrooms, closer proximity to bed/lodging for those staying on the strip, reduced transportation costs, and lastly any ‘other’ bonuses that come (technology or comfort wise), from a building built this century. 2018 WSOP
