Will be playing in my first Main Event, after winning WSOP.com satellite! Thoughts on which Day 1 to play? I'm thinking either Day 1B or 1C. Day 1C I guess will have most entries by far, so I would think somewhat softer field (maybe just my hope)? Also, any advantage to skipping the first level or two before antes kick in? Would prefer to sit at a full table, rather than playing 6 handed.

No, 20K-10K =10 K profit * 30 % = $ 3000 taxes.

The forms do not come into effect until $5000.01 profit in which case the entire $5000.01 is taxed.

Tons of weak spots. It’s super fast so be prepared to move chips.

Good to know. Most of my online volume was in low stakes MTTs, so I'm pretty comfortable in shove mode on a short stack.

Especially since the dealers are awful and you get about 20 hands an hour if you're lucky. I played a couple weeks ago and we had 4 misdeals in the first hour, all where the dealer had skipped giving a player a card. And as someone else ITT mentioned, making change and collecting antes is hard.

I understand it's impossible to find as many highly trained dealers as they need, but it seems like for the lower events like this, they'll take anyone with a pulse and no felonies.

Oh, and specifically for the Giant, the dealers don't push for like 2 hours, so if you get a mouth breather, you're stuck with them!

Depends on how you feel about off days in between. You will have one regardless before Day 2, do you want a day off between Day 2 and 3 or no.

As for sitting out levels, why. Levels are 2 hours so to sit out for first two you are missing half the day.

Most days there aren't many empty seats. Most of the time everyone is there.

I would say Day C, for the only reason in my 3 ME the time I did day C I cashed.

Good luck, and remember, its a very very very slow structure.

Thanks for the advice. I'm learning toward Flight C. Yes, will have to keep reminding myself of the very very very slow pace.

Just coming back from Rio I would like them to start day 1s later and have day 2s start earlier. More likely to late register. Only there for a short time and trying to play as many as possible. Not spending $1k to $1.5k for less than 20 bigs.

SNGs should pay cash. Annoying to try to sell lammers.

More turbo bracelet events. Whats not to like about these?

More TVs or bigger TVs in tournament room.

If they paid cash you'd get tax forms as well.

They pay cash at the Circuit events. But there are no 5k or 10k prize pools because the biggest event is usually ~1650.

so the pricejump from 6k to 7k in a 1,5k event actually makes you loose 650$?

i guess i need to have a look at my old receipts

When do people flying out for just the Main Event book their return flight? Im flying in Tuesday to play Day 1 C on Wednesday. Is Sunday the best day to book my return flight? If I have to change the flight Ill be in the money already so wont mind the expense.

If you book on Southwest you can book multiple flights, then just cancel the one you don't need. If you do Wanna Get Away fares, you won't get a refund but will get a voucher good for any SWA flight for a year, so depends on how much you fly, but that was always my strategy.

Never played a WSOP event at the RIO. Planning to play the main event. Can I just show up on Tuesday night to buy in for Day1C? If I show up on Wednesday, will I get locked out? Long lines? No seats?

Will there be a non STT satellite event on Tuesday? Thanks in advance.

In the past the last day was always the busiest but going there on Tuesday night is a good plan . The longest lines have been on the last day; again go Tuesday.

Dunno about lock outs, doubtful but perhaps losing time at the tables due to the lines.

There are satellites on the Tuesday prior :

you can also book the last flight of the day (usually the cheapest) then go standby for no xtra fee earlier in the day if space is open.

You don't have to pay a fare difference to do that? I always thought you did and so never tried it.

Depends on the airline and the direction of the wind at a given moment...and whether you are standing on your left leg, hopping up and down, praying to the Goddess of smooth taxiways LOL!

Seriously, though, some airlines DO charge fees and fare differential. Others do not.
