The availability of comps is definitely on a sliding scale dependent on your play history. One diamond player may only get weekday comps at the lower tier properties, while others will have weekend comps available at the upper tier resorts.

If someone is getting an entire month comped, even at the Rio, then they either have an extremely generous host (how about sharing their name ), or they are getting close to 7-star status based on their play.

Has anyone had experience walking from the rio to palms place late at night? Heard stories of robbery. Is it worth taking a cab across the street at 3am? Thanks

I was surprised to see I had anything, as my credits from the WSOP event expired at Xmas, it said online. Was looking at rooms for the last 10 nights of my trip, and logged in to see I had 5 comped at Rio.

I give no play at all, but would be in a penthouse if they handed out rooms for drinking, and eating

Somewhat similarly, I’ve gotten five comped nights each of the past two years just with Platinum status.

If anyone is playing in an event that uses the below chips, be on the lookout for anyone trying to mix in fakes this year. Apparently these aren't cheapo plastic clones. They're made by the same manufacturer with the same material and are virtually indistinguishable when stacked.

You'll be able to tell when you see the face of the chip, but I can see this getting dicey if you're just matching stacks in an all-in.

Someone tweeted these images at the WSOP account, but the tweet disappeared with no response from WSOP which is a little weird.

That's a bit worrying! You'd like to think the WSOP would have got the manufacturer to agree never to make the same design available to another buyer (which would not stop all fakery, obviously, but would be a good start).

I have always thought that there must be some scope for chip-cheating. I choose not to worry about it [what would be the point!] and just rely on the overall controls provided by scrutiny from dealers, floor staff, other players etc., plus the fact that (presumably) hardly anyone would actually want to cheat so blatantly.

Whenever I buy a lammer, I always think "this would be a high +EV think to fake....."; they don't appear to have any high tech security whatsoever!

Strange first post so I think we can be fair to assume it's just a different alias and if this was truly an issue why hide your name ? What possible reprisal could you fear ?
Someone else can spend a lot more time looking at the historic color changes that the WSOP does to avoid this type of situation and protect the integrity of the tournaments than I have but of all the things to sweat I would have more concern with the lammers that the official chips in the events and I have never had a problem in any event I have played that use Lammers.

Yes, people have cheated before and they will cheat again just the nature of the beast but I'm not losing any sleep over it.

To me it is much ado about nothing. Maybe I will have to be burned before I care.

Just an aside, as expected, 15% payoffs on events.

They do .... but the ones pictured look identical to those used in the late-start WSOP events (often limit events).

Has anyone ever played in the $1100 heads up mega satellite at the WSOP rio?? They always run it the day before the $10k heads up. Just curious how many runners it usually gets, and the structure/level of play?

I was the "stone cold bubble boy" last year. It had over 1000 players. The bubble was around 110. There was extreme collusion and soft play the last hour.

It is a satellite.... the structure is fast and you have to get a little lucky then play smart satellite tourney strategy in the end game. remember that you don't have to win all the chips but you must survive.

I'll play it again this year.

Sorry - I was not in the Heads up Mega. I was in the Main Event Mega.

You bring up a good point about collusion though. Seems like it would be ridiculously easy for two guys to agree to swap blinds for the whole tournament.

The final major satty for the Main Event last year ($2200 buy in) became so farcical they had to stop the tournament and space out the tables (2 empty tables between each active one) so that people would stop trying to see stacks on other tables. There was a cash bubble of $8k or something and that combined with the actual bubble took nearly 3 hours. There was significant soft play and collusion going on and it was generally completely ignored. I got a seat so it worked out ok for me but jee what a ****show.

FWIW WSOP REGISTRATION is still not available online.

"2018 WSOP registration information will be available in March 2018."

So as is so often the case they are pushing their own time frames.

Are you really in that big a hurry? They aren't selling out of anything except MAYBE the heads-up.

Does anyone know how many runners both the 25k plo and 10k plo megas have got in previous years? Thanks

LOL you guys are funny and so nitty about being outdoors in the Vegas Summer. Last summer I casually walked at midday from Bellagio North Valet to Rio in light jeans / dress shirt (rolled-up sleeves / two buttons open) carrying my jacket over my shoulder. It took around 15-20 mins and while I did get somewhat hot and slightly sweaty, Rio's AC soon cooled me down without any noticeable consequences.

Oh and I'm White and over 50!

235 1pm
185 4pm
365 7pm
135 10pm

iirc they all end at around the same time, probably 3-4am this year as they moved some of the start times up
