Anyone have any thoughts on What effect the change in schedule will have on the number of runners in the Daily Deepstacks once the Main Event starts?

I know in the past it dips once the ME starts. Do you think that will happen this year or will the schedule change keep those numbers up?

I would suspect the numbers would be somewhere between the low figures in and around the ME and the highs which occur a couple weeks before. probably in the upper hundreds to low 1000s.

Yes, because the extra 5 seconds it took to count out $65 instead of $50 really impacted the two minute registration time.

I've been a cash game player for 40 years and have never really played tournament poker, much less a WSOP event, but after 4 months of chemotherapy last fall and then a month of radiation treatments, I finally got a clean PET Scan in February, so I've decided to reward myself with a trip back to LV this summer to take in some of the WSOP atmosphere. I just booked first class airfare tickets for June 16th, a week's stay at the Wynn, and I plan to play the Super Seniors event beginning Sunday, June 17th, now that they've lowered the age to 60+.

I'll no doubt be the soft spot at whatever table I'm at, but I figure it's only $1k for (hopefully) a few hours of fun. Hell, I've lost more than that in a hand of $2/$5NL. I just hope to last more than a couple of levels, lol, but whenever I'm knocked out, I'll just head over to the cash tables either there or back at the Wynn/Encore.

Although I previously lived in Vegas and was a regular at the poker tables (just as I am now in South Florida), I never did get around to checking out the action at Rio since I wasn't interested in playing or railing any of the events, but I'm really looking forward to doing so this summer.

Well, your post slowed me down and got me thinking how some of us poker players take our health for granted.
I first like to thank you, and I'm really happy for you that you feel good enough to get back to the felt.

Nothing like a bit of adversity for we Seniors to work on our bucket list - Best of Luck to you.

Cash and Tourney play are VERY different animals so to maximize your enjoyment and stay at the table I encourage you to spend a few bucks and pick up some Books just to get the mental thought process in place. Also if you should play a few tournaments events in Southern Florida as a prep for your trip. There are ton's of low limit buy ins and it will be well worth it.

Finally since you are specifying the Super Senior gear your reading (and play if possible) to that style. There is a lot of difference between the play of trappy old farts and Bullet proof Hoodies in Tournaments so some of the books that are good for open events are not IMO as valuable for Senior events. Also if you can pull it off the regular Senior is 6/15 with the Super Senior 6/17 you might want to try both.
Congrats on the PET results and I hope to see you at the WSOP old fart tables.

Am I correct in assuming that if a structure sheet makes no mention of re-entry, that event is a freezeout? For example Milly Maker says 1 reentry per day, double stack says unlimited, while the $1500 on the following Monday says nothing either way.

fyi - there are lower priced seniors events all over town the week prior, and even a Seniors Poker Tour event at the Orleans starting the 22nd.

That sounds about the same % time saved with the BB ante

BTW, if they wanted to use the buy-in amount to save time, they would make it $240, not $250. This is just their way of applying that juicy rake on more entry money.

I appreciate the info, but I just want to have the experience of playing in a WSOP bracelet event. I realize that I'm going to be "donating" my money to the prize pool and that I could save a little money by playing a cheaper event such as the Colossus or even the Giant, but I like that the Super Seniors has 60-minute levels and I think it will be more enjoyable - - - and more sociable - - - playing with and against people my own age and older rather than hoodie-wearing mutes with headphones and sunglasses. I think the experience will be well worth donating $1k to the cause. However, after that, I plan to spend the rest of the week at the cash game tables where I think I have a pretty good chance of winning back my buy-in money and more. One tourney will be enough for me.

OK guys, I know this questions comes up every year, but I like some updated and hopefully recent information on bringing money to Vegas. I know the laws regarding 10K cash domestically vs. internationally, etc. And how there is still a possibility of being stopped even domestically if you carry a large stash of cash. My questions is NOT about that nor is it about Bank of America branches, etc. I need guidance specifically about how wire transfers work to the CAGE at casinos.

Two main questions: If I wire 20K to the cage at Aria (staying at Aria/Vdara), can I walk up to the cage and get 20K in chips (20 yellows) and then use them as I wish, meaning exchange them for cash (obviously not all at the same time).

Second, If I wire 20K to Rio, can I walk up to the cage and get chips (same as Aria), or do they give me lammers, and then I have to end up selling the lammers for cash (very inconvenient obviously).

My understanding is that opening a line is NOT a good alternative as you have to get your money at the table and most of the time cash your chips at the table against your line as well, which doesn't let you walk away with 20K away from the BJ table and eventually cash your chips. CONfirming this would be helpful as well. Thanks guys

I can only give you one episode in which I wired money to the Rio wsop cashier ($1500) as payment for an event,( not the Rio cashier) and decided not to to play an event. They wouldn't give me cash but did give me chips which I cashed at the casino cashier. I don't believe they would ever give lammers .

I cannot help with the question on wires and funds availability.

My only experience with credit was from the trip last week. I was staying downtown at the Nugget. I set a line up at Binions and they also established one at the sister property (Four Queens). Since I had set it up in advance, I had to go to the cage at each property to prove I was me. Despite being sister properties, the cage experience was different.

Four Queens had me sign their paperwork and was actually asking at the cage how much I wanted at that time. I was not going to play there, so I didn't need chips. The next morning, I was at Binions and got my marker for $1K. When I was set to leave from the table, I colored up...they don't settle at the table if the paperwork has already been pushed, so I went to the cage. Cage was content to just give me cash and then settle at the end of the trip. As such, I did have a small amount of cash that I had not intended to be wandering around with for the day.

While I know that those are not properties you had inquired about, I point out the experience to illustrate that there is no one absolute experience to expect. Hopefully someone else can offer you their experiences on current center strip credit practices.

I can give you my experience at the Venetian last week. I had a line set up in advance (which required the usual credit check) and then had to visit the credit desk in the casino (conveniently located near the cashier cage) to activate the line. After that I simply went to the cage to request cash as needed. They would always ask me if I wanted ticket(s) for the machines but I simply said no thanks, I preferred cash. I would sign for the cash and away I went. At the end of my trip I simply bought back the notes I had signed. It was all very easy and it saved me from having to carry cash during my travel to Vegas (and avoid the hassle of declaring that I was carrying $10K). I like this option as it avoids having to pay wire fees and I believe most casinos will accept personal cheques (the V does) so it all goes quite smoothly.
