Got an email today from Card Player:
"The second annual Lone Star State Poker Championship, presented by the Card Player Poker Tour, will be held July 30 through Aug. 5, 2018.
Yes, you heard that right. Legal Texas hold’em in Texas! The series also marks the first non-charity, major poker tournament in the state."
The email gives the link "http://www.postoakpokerclub.com/" but no details regarding this tournament.
I didnt know that poker tournaments were legal in Texas.
. . . so, what's the catch?

Basically, in Texas poker rooms do not take a rake so technically they are legal. There is a membership fee to satisfy the “private club” designation. Many have a seat rental charge. The one this event is at is nice but has fallen off with a newer place opening close by.theres a huge thread in “home poker” about these clubs.
