I am a USA citizen and I am only going to play one event at the Aussie Millions. I have a question regarding the tourism visa. I called the tourism/immigration office and they say I must get a Temp Work Visa Subclass 400 that costs $175, while my girlfriend has to pay the standard ETA 601-costs only $20.

I'm hoping I'm speaking to someone misinformed at the office or have others experienced the same visa requirement to play a live tournament? I'm going to Australia for two weeks total, five days in Sydney, then a few in Melbourne before I enter one tournament just one time. Feel like I would have heard of this before if this was the usual protocol for live tournaments.

As a US citizen you only need an ETA, it costs like $20, will let you stay up to three months and lasts a year. once you apply it will be connected to your passport, and you wont be able to get a job there.

Seems correct, if you were a poker pro coming for the main reason of playing in the Aussie Millions via online qualifier or if u bought in via online $ the work visa seems the correct category.

with that said if you went to Australia as a primarily a tourist and decide while in Aus as a tourist to have a punt on the Aussie Millions, you should be fine going with ETA, IMO...

suk12, you probably need to just visit a bank in person. You can take a large deposit from a bank, and deposit within Crown if required for safety purposes.

Also, was potentially interested in playing tomorrow's $1,150 event that starts at 2:30 but wanted to know how many days the tournament is scheduled to last/how late I can register. If anyone has that information would appreciate it if you could post that even if you don't have access to the structure sheet.

Late registration is probably until the end of level 6, like in any other 1k´s that was played here so far.
