i have off from work from august 26th till september 6th so i'm thinking about this.. been trying to find a poker series going on during this week and this is all i could find.. i live halfway between philly and atlantic city so if this isn't a great series there is certainly plenty of action for me here.. anybody ever go to this?.. also how much of a pain is it to travel there from philly?.. any information would be greatly appreciated!!!
Hi all - I am going to head down to the Gulf Coast Poker Championship at the Beau over Labor Day. I'm planning to try to satellite in to the main event which is a $3,000 + 125. I do not have a structure sheet yet, but typically the Beau holds good deep structures. It's a two day event. I suspect 100 +/- entrants.
Anyway, I am looking for advice in how to best prepare. I'm a total book nerd so would love advice on good tournament books or other resources. I have some experience in these types of events and have played a couple of the Tunica WSOP Circuit events. I got 2nd down at the Beau in a ladies event recently, but am basically a pure amateur. I've been playing for about 5 years and mostly play $1/2 and $2/5 live with the occasional tourney when I get to a casino (live in bible belt Georgia where only local games).
Any tips, resources, etc. would be appreciated. I would really like to do what I can to prepare. I'm motivated to do the best I can.
Sorry about the late reply.... If you go to www.beaurivage.com, you can see the actual schedule. The 1500 is not a turbo.....LOL
I will have structures posted this week, but just a heads up, the 300's and 500's have increasing level times. They start with 10K in chips, 1st 10 levels are 30 min, next 10 are 45, everything after is 60.... Also, all FT levels are 60,
I wish the turbos could have been avoided, but when we try to have a full event with a decent structure, we look like fools because players invariable ask "How are the people that go deep on Saturday supposed to play in the Main on Sunday"
What we call a turbo has 10K in chips, 30 minute levels, and has no levels missing:
