Apparently you know your options so why ask? lol
That's not the point ... the point is that these hotels (that he mentioned) are not connected with the Casino, and I suspect as well, they cost you an arm and a leg to stay at to boot.
The Horseshoe in CB Iowa doesn't have a Harrah's Hotel physically connected with it.
However, across the street is a local Hotel (the Country Inn) that they have a deal with that they use and fill many of their rooms, and you can book that hotel via Harrahs.com as well.
This also means for a lot of players, they can get the rooms either for free, or at reduced price.
When this hotel doesn't have rooms, then people can stay at the Harrahs property located a mile away that has a Hotel connected to it.
The fact that the Horseshoe in Hammond Indiana has been a Harrahs property now for a few years, and it STILL doesn't either have a direct hotel connected to the property, nor has Harrahs made any deals with the local hotels that are nearby either.
If they had, they would get a bigger turnout for this event.
I reach out to the Jimmy S. and ask ... next year, when you plan this, please keep this in mind, when picking the Regional event .. and pick one of your properties that has either a Harrahs hotel in place, or a property where your Harrahs property has a deal (already) in place, where your Total Rewards players can get free or reduced rate rooms.
P.S. Chicago I don't think is strong arming them for anything ... me thinks it's because that Harrahs is being cheap and are not willing to build a hotel there, or make deals with hotels in the area for the people who play there.
I just moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana in the last few months, to accept a job here, and the Hammond property is like half the distance for me then the one down by Louisville, KY.
However, the Hammond property doesn't have a hotel, so ... (even for other things than the WSOP Circuit events) I plan on playing at the one down by Louisville, KY instead.
Plus, while I've not played at the Hammond property, I've always thought that the one down south is the best poker room in the area ... Just my opinion that is.
