You probably meant LVPD, but even that is wrong, I think they're just called Metro because they cover Paradise, etc.

Who told you that a guy was arrested? A WSOP suit?

I said that it is not true because there is nothing called NVPD (see link in my previous post).

NVPD - Ne Vada Police Department?

I guess that someone could get arrested for selling lammers, under some whacked interpretation of some law. But people have been buying/selling lammers for a long time. And I have never seen or heard of an arrest.

Wasn't arrested, just cited. Sure I made up NVPD, I'm sure it was whatever it meant to be

Doesn't matter, there has to be a code/statute violation, e.g a law broken. If they were actually cited, the code number will be written on the citation.

I'm not clear that trading lammers is even against the rules, technically speaking.

Lammers are clearly marked "No Cash Value" and I know that WSOP states that they are not redeemable after a certain date but I do not remember explicitly seeing a "not transferrable" rule.

I can imagine there is a set of rules somewhere that I simply have not looked up, but on a common sense basis these seem to be bearer instruments and that wouldn't seem to prevent them being traded.

only read last few posts but absurd to say if u buy lammers you should pass discount onto investors etc (it was @ chainsaw, so maybe it was trolling but w.e)

think lammers are technically against the rules but they dont care and they are pretty obvious that their attitude is "its tech. not allowed, but feel free to do it"
staff often say sth like "ur not supposed to do it, but just go somewhere where i cant see and its all good"

You have it backwards. Technically there's no rule against selling them, but some people decided to enforce a rule that doesn't exist.

I would have asked, but I have been hammered by the runbad gods. Between megas and STT's I'm about oh for 15. It's enough to make me find a new hobby.

People have just been standing at the entrance to the cage selling their lammers -- literally 2 feet away from security without problems.

Believe me you can get tossed from the property.

I'll buy at 480 all the time. No hassles.

Wish I had seen this thread. Won a SNG the night I left and tried for about 45 minutes to sell the lammers at the registration cage being rejected by every single person. Then wandered around the poker room asking people at random. Got three people to negotiate and not one would go above $950 for my $1000. Even got threatened to be kicked out by a floor person who overheard me asking. It was really quite a nightmare and makes me not ever wanna play SNGs at the Rio again.

I really can't believe they don't make their lammers good for next year. Seems like a nice way to rob a lot of money.

This would create a huge liability on the books for accounting, which I assume they wouldn't want.

And, like you said, they are going to make money on breakage.

If people really were being tossed from the property, why are you so comfortable advertising that you'll buy them at a discount.

What if they tapped you on the shoulder today and tossed you for doing what you're doing?

Buying at a discount doesn't suddenly make it ok.

(if it wasn't ok in the first place)

Buying/selling lammers is like sneaking food into the movie theater. You won't get in trouble for it unless you're blatant about it.

Offering to buy at any time for 480 is not the same as harassing strangers.

For all they know the lammers may be counterfeit.

I always offer to go to the window with them to ensure the lammers are accepted.

People buying for only less than face are a plague to the economy.

It's worth $500. Pay as such.

I find Alan's evolving sales tactics for being willing to buy at a discount interesting to watch.

We have never had a single person in here who has been punished further than being told to stop by security. Expressing certainty about the existence of a worse punishment is simply fear mongering on his part to attempt to drive the market down for something that should be at or extremely close to full value.

I got yelled at, hard, by a 6'4" suit. In addition to Security.

I played at a table with a guy that was able to sell at will for face value. He'd buy for $495 because he knows he can resell at face. I cannot, so I sell at a discount.

Sounds like a lot of trouble for $5 profit a pop. So much could go wrong for that kind of profit margin.

So, I'm looking at one of these $500 lammers (brag), nothing indicating 2017 on it. I assume (look out!) they will be different next year or are different from last year's (??)

I hate that they can't carry over year to year. Seems like a fairly simple accounting. Separate accounts for prize pool money in the STT, carry it over year to year, expect some loss of lammers, and carefully check for counterfeits.

Just MHO, of course.
