Have you tried starting a friendly chat at every table or line-up you're at then mentioning that you're looking to exchange a lammer? It may not be instant but I will at some point see a friendly pro or somebody I've said a word to before that is willing to exchange before they buy-in. I volunteer to stay with the person in the line-up until he gets to the cashier. If you will be at the Rio when I'm there around June 14-27+, we can help each other get face value.

Ha, okay. I tried selling one to Kathy Liebert but a suit saw and came over and screamed at me and she ran off. Tried to sell one to Grinder but he was broke and wanted me to stake him.

I'd offer to buy them but I'm at the same table so it'd be really awkward.

lammer-related question. I win a sat for ME seat, am I required to fill out any tax forms? asking due to staking/selling action issues.

No. This is actually the WSOP's best argument for prohibiting the sale of lammers. If lammers were functionally equivalent to cash, winning them would not only be taxable, the WSOP would have to do the reporting forms. It doesn't really make a difference in terms of the tax liability, since if you win a satellite and then use the lammers to enter a tournament but don't cash you haven't netted any taxable income. But it does make a difference for the reporting. It saves both the WSOP and players the hassle of having to do tax forms for satty wins to have lammers be worth "no cash value."

Because you are helping someone out at no expense or trouble to yourself.

Zero sum game, with one party very happy at the outcome and one in exactly the same position as he was before the transaction.

And as for getting scammed, you can get knocked over by a bus every time you cross the road. Does that mean you never cross the road?

if there was a 1% chance of getting hit by a bus but I could just take the bridge over the road at zero additional effort and have a 0% chance of getting hit by a bus, I would probably take the bridge.

There is a near zero chance anyone would spend the thousands of dollars to make fake lammers that are worthless by mid-July.

I don't disagree, but pulling out a wad of cash in a public place to make an under the table transaction (that is expressly against the rules of the establishment) with a complete stranger to zero personal benefit is still not an entirely risk free endeavor.

I think it's great that people are willing to pay face value for lammers to help other poker players out, I also think it is perfectly reasonable for people to not be willing to do it at all, or to charge a little vig to complete the transaction. The scorn directed towards those people is unreasonable IMO.

You don't accidentally get hit with a pocket full of lammers. You're playing in lammer events without the intention of using them for their express purpose. Not sure why you get to claim the moral high ground when someone charges you a few bucks or even better just doesn't need the hassle of aiding and abetting you.

Sellers can volunteer to stay with the buyer until at the cashier for 100% assurance. I usually get to chat with the buyer about some party, swag, juicy game or other Las Vegas info that he wasn't aware of, so it's a win-win interaction between 2+2 members.

...but doing it to make $5-10 per lammer makes the risk worthwhile? If you're going to make an argument, at least make it believable.

My primary reason for charging a fee, this is from my Facebook page:

"I found random 2k in my luggage one time.
They were lammers from previous wsop (expired) 2+2 WSOP lammer exchange"
