This is my runner-up. The only thing worse than this movie is that boring long-ass wreck 2001: Space Odyssey. I actually had to call up the person who recommended this film to me and yell at him. He cried, Robbin Williams cried, I cried...what a nightmare. I refuse to be subjected to it ever again.

The Cell
I can't say that I hate all of the movie because I couldn't bring myself to watch the second half. I don't care for psychological horrors at the best of times, but going into the warped mind of a serial killer as J-lo was just so meh.

Would be interested to know other peoples take on this one.

I totally can see why one would hate Inception and I am with them for most part. I wouldn`t watch it a third time. I just could not understand the hype.

Uh..lets just set the last dream in snowy mountains, because it just looks so much cooler....ugh.

Inception is visually great, but that`s about it.

And please leave the Shawshank Redemption alone :-( It`s a great, great movie and I could watch it over and over again.

Also: There will be blood I saw it some years after it came out, and although I liked the acting by Daniel Day Lewis and the looks of it I could not get the story to interest me.
I did not want to turn it off, but it felt so long and boring. I don`t know, it`s hard to describe with my english skills.

But I somehow hated it, without really hating on it.

Doesn`t make sense I guess.

28 Weeks Later should have been the Aliens to 28 Days Later's Alien.
But, instead of a 90min zombie gunfest, it's the most depressing pos movie I've ever sat through.
Totally wasted Robert Carlyle as well which is unforgivable and the ending was just ******ed.

First of all, it's about the dumb historically incorect aesthetics of the film. Micheal Bay would have been proud.

But more importantly, almost every aspect of the movie just represents a poorly researched generic Hollywood massacring of yet another important historical event.

- The Spartans are some kind of Übermensch Village People (or in Nazi terms: Tokyo Hotel with spears). They represent strength, bravery, defiance of death and so on. Weak elements of their nation are not allowed so they kill their weak children (Just about the only historically correct part of the film).

- The Persians - in contrary - are depicted as Barbarians (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbarian) Large masses of people with dark skins (and Ninja masks. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Pe...lin_Museum.jpg) who do not have the bravery of the Spartans. They represent the Persians. By the way, it is not a coincidence that the ambassador who Leonidas kicks down into the cistern is Persian. His skin color is needed to show his Persian nature. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Achaemenid_Empire)

- And lastly the traitor obviously represents Ephialtes. His appearance as a crookbacked old man is taken right out of 300 by Frank Miller. He is Spartan by birth, but ordinarily should have been killed as a child because of his deformation that weakens the Spartan race; he is not worthy of living. Consequently, he turns traitor to the Spartans (in order to win hookers and blow) so that him being killed is seemingly justified. The whole role being included in this movie is just directly imported historically incorect Hollywood bs. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ephialtes_of_Trachis)

The director has said that the movie was not intended like this, but that he wanted to lead the Spartans' morals ad absurdum by irony and CGI'd 6 packs. I don't buy that.

That being said, I understand why people like this movie. But I'm just getting sick when I watch it. In spirit, this is a purely rubbish movie.
Imo

Most James Bond franchise fans unanimously hate Timothy Dalton, but I thought he was great. I loved both of his Bond movies (License to Kill & The Living Daylights). Not sure why he gets a bad rap, I like him better than Daniel Craig

I didn't hate this movie by any stretch but I do think it's seriously overrated.
Daniel Day is still the ****ing man though.

Also saw love and other drugs recently and that's pretty damn terrible.
If there is a worst genre ever it's romance.

I'm down with the Shamalamadingdong hate, but my hatred started with Unbreakable. **** that POS, cramming the comic imagery right down our throats and then failing so badly with such an obvious and truly vomit-worthy "twist" that I can't believe I actually saw another Shamalamadingdong film after that. **** "Signs" too. I've already seen the Wizard of Oz, idiot. I know witches, and those aliens are no witches.

LOL...Katy, you need to be more critical in Lounge threads - you're hilarious when you are!

I agree completely, but only if you switch the two movies around.

Hadn't seen this one mentioned yet - anyone else hate Forrest Gump?

Maybe it was because of the hype/reviews, but I thought it was so self-congratulatory and just so obvious in its attempt to manipulate emotions that I still hate it.

Naked

I hated virtually everything about this movie. I couldn't wait for it to be over. Despite a great performance by the lead guy I despised the character as well as every other charcater in the movie, the plot (plot?), situations, and dialog.

Typically I would have turned it off way early but it was a Lounge DvD club selection so I felt I had to suffer through it.

There are probably lots of other movies I hate just as much but I have a pretty quick trigger on throwing in the towel because I have a perfect understanding of what I hate. So I likely never saw more than the first 15-20 minutes of them.

You think it's visually great but you hate that the director makes a choice based solely on what looks visually cool? I think he might justify the fortress in remote snowy mountain setting bc it's meant to represent how difficult the innermost layer of the psyche is to penetrate for Leo and his gang. And even if not, I wouldn't fault a director for making a choice solely on visuals in a visually stylized film.

The Blair Witch Project

Yes, you broke new ground in marketing your movie, and I am not against trying new things in cinema. But, jesus, there is a reason most movie have written scripts. Or actors that actually have taken some kind of lessons. Having to listen to those obnoxious idiots yell "****" 20 times a minute was painful (and I am not even talking about the motion-sickness inducing camerawork). And those stick-figure things that were supposed to be scary looked like something the average pre-schooler would make at art time with popsicle sticks. There was not a single minute where I felt even a little scared or an iota of tension.

The review that summed it up best for me was "About halfway through, you start rooting for the witch."

Also, Double Jeopardy was one of the most insulting movies I ahve seen. The glaring plot holes are beyond ridiculous (everyone convicted of 1st degree murder is released in like 7 years, of course; your kid will never find out his mom was convicted of killing you, so sure, you can move right back in with him; anything that happened in the cemetary). TLJ sleepwalks through the whole movie, and the scene where he is on the strechter and babbling about Ashely Judd getting the keys to the city and the thing to put on her keychain was embarrasing.

But the most insulting thing was that we were supposed to believe that a late 20's, educated, American citizen had never heard of the concept of "double jeopardy" and needed a fellow inmate to explain it to her. To me, that is the filmmakers telling the audience "**** you. We think you are morons. We need to spell this out for you as obviously as we can."

Ok, I feel better now.

Isn't it interesting that most people's hate for a movie is rather a hating on other people's good reaction to a movie they dislike rather than hating on the movie itself. (Exceptions to that include the Crow and 300.) Which is why so many movies mentioned in this thread are classics.

I still haven't figured out how anyone can like 2001. Let's take a stort rather uninteresting story and S T R E T C H . I T . O U T . W I T H . T H E . S I L E N C E . O F . S P A C E. It would be one of my top disliked movie but not sure I hate any movie.

I think it is a pretty normal reaction. It is a matter of overexposure. The same could be said for other pop culture acts like Justin Bieber, Madonna, etc. We have more of an opportunity to hate those things that we are bombarded with on a regular basis.
