So I withdraw my nominations of The Searchers and The Princess Bride.
Yeah agree I think there is something worse about a movie that almost everyone else loved, that for whatever reason you think is just completely horrible. It's probably why I hate St. Elmo's Fire so intensely... it has gained almost a cult status as a great 80s movie, but it's just so terrible it almost angers me that others don't see it.
Similar to Cocktail, another 80s hit full of absolutely despicable people who are supposed to be likeable. (Except for Elizabeth Shue who manages to be charming, even in this).
I seem to have an issue with a lot of the teen or brat-pack oriented movies of the 80s. Maybe because they are so beloved by my generation even though they sucked. Even Ferris Buller's Day Off is terrible imo. Ferris is obnoxious and not half as charming as he thinks he is. Comes off like an entitled douche.
But yeah if it's just a bad movie then who cares, everyone hates it. It's the ones everyone else seems to like that get to you.
