So what are you going to do with your last day on Earth?

You will draft these activities:

• 1 last movie to see
• 1 last album to listen to
• 1 cultural "event" to attend (concert/museum, etc.)
• 3 restaurants anywhere in the world to have your last three meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner)
• 1 sport/ physical activity you want to experience one last time
• 1 "personal time" activity (whatever this means to you)
• 1 person from your past you wish to spend time with/see again (who is alive)
• 1 person you've never met, with whom you'd like to meet and have a drink
• 1 wildcard activity

You have access to any place on the planet during this 24 hour period, but other than this ability to instantly transport anywhere in the world, there is no other "magic" or supernatural stuff going on.

You are your age right now, with all the physical limitations and abilities you naturally possess.

Time will flow naturally, so meals will last however long they normaly last for you, same with an event or activity, etc.

You will be by yourself for this 24 hours, but you can make friends or talk to people along the way, like, say, in a restaurant or on a hike. Just no one you already know.

So, you are basically planning your last day!

BTW, this draft is not a regular one, in that once an activity is drafted, it is NOT off the table to be drafted by someone else. This is a completely personal draft and it does not matter in what order we go in.

In fact, I'm thinking of making each round a free-for-all - you can choose whenever you want once an activity category goes "live." So round one might be movies - and we call all post which movie and why you want it to be your last one viewed. Etc.

What does everyone think?

Sounds great, especially since I have so much time on my hands.

We used to give a version of this on our writing placement test, and it generated some interesting answers. "I'd like to spend my last 24 hours with God. We'd start by having coffee on my porch."

I find most of the last activities so silly and distasteful, and probably the last things that I would actually do if I only had 24 hrs to live, that I'm going to participate. I find the challenge interesting so count me in.

This. I don't know how many on this forum have had the great good fortune, or the great misfortune, to have 24 hours left to live, but as Samuel Johnson observed, it concentrates the mind wonderfully. Decisions seem to make themselves. I don't know that with 24 hours left to live, I'd see a movie. But if I treat the question to be, "If I only have the chance to see one more movie in my life, what would it be?" I could probably come up with an answer.

The idea of this draft hasn't really made me want to join, but it does have me thinking about quitting 2p2 and spending my remaining time more wisely. So that makes me the winner, pretty sure.

Love that Samuel Johnson quote btw, first heard that when George Will used it a couple times back in the 80s. Something about getting hanged in a fortnight. "Depend upon it, Sir!..." He was so awesome, good old Dr. Johnson.

It's your draft, but I was planning to build a nice story around my last day. Of course, I can still make up a story with this new constraint, though it would help immensely to start my day with the event.

On a trip at the moment so it might be a while before I can do this in more than a cursory way.
