Back when they actually wrote radio-friendly songs with recognizable chords they were really good. Then they decided to make anti-music or something.
It's not anti-music, it's avant-garde. You just don't get it, mmmmaaaannnnnn.

I've heard/witnessed many stories where people don't take the time to appreciate radiohead's albums but come along to a live show and get religion. I get that they became apostates to many when they eschewed guitar driven rock and roll but the times called for it. I can see why people who like classic guitar rock only wouldn't like them though.

Zevon never got the respect he deserved...

I'm glad to see Rush finally getting some love after all these years.

Petty says his last album was inspired by early British blues, and specifically cited Peter Green.

Over: The doors-Morrison was just a mumbling drunk, Van Halen-post 1985 just because of Sammy Haggar, Sammy Haggar is the worst rock "musician" ever. Rush. The Greatful Dead.

Under: ZZ Top, Cream, Los Lobos, Rob/White Zombie, Bill Withers(if you can count this as R&R), The Animals, Dire Straits, Queen-Freddy Mercury=BEST front man of all time, Led Zeppelin is always under rated

ZZ Top is probably over-rated, malachi9. Not sure Rush is over-rated.

Not sure if the band Yes is over, under, or correctly rated. I want to say under based on how good their bassist and keyboardist were but I'm not sure they ever found a level of synergy that matched their individual skills. Really like a lot of their songs though.

I can't see how either band is overrated. Both have been going strong for 30+ years and still deliver in my opinion.

Someone in an earlier post mentioned Freddy Mercury being the best front man ever...although I've never been a huge fan of Queen, I'll agree that he sure had one hell of a stage presence.

Van Halen is a shell of its former self as is Metallica. Seen both live and neither were as good as they were 20 years ago.

Had a chance to catch Loverboy last summer when they opened for Journey...they stole the show.

I feel Rush, The Clash (somewhat) and definitely Hall and Oates are all underrated. In for the hate I get for liking Hall and Oates.

H&O are very underrated. Especially Hall as a vocalist. And a mullet wearer.

Eddie Van Halen said he ripped off the keyboard hook for Jump from Hall & Oates' song Kiss on My List. Daryl Hall said he was fine with that. I listened to the song and yeah I kinda hear it but I think EVH took it to another level.

Maneater ftw. I think H&O have the most #1 hits by a duo, like, of all time, mullet or no.

FWIW, Doors and Led Zeppelin are both squashed a lot in The Lounge.

Not sure what I think of Yes either. I feel like everyone in the band is immensely talented, but I think they suffered from a lack of leadership to unify the band or something.

I loved most of the LFDH episodes. He mixed in amazingly well with a huge variety of artists. Smokey was my fav. T-Bone Wolk was great too.

Agree with Hall & Oates being under appreciated. And The Animals are greatly under appreciated. I would say pre-Collins Genesis is under and post- is overrated. Talking Heads also underrated.
