i is ok, but e is my favorite number.

Euler's identity still freaks me out. How do you take those three numbers and make something so simple.

Sounds like an awesome possibility. I hope you get it. I don't see anything wrong with emailing to confirm an interview. The standard wisdom is that it shows your commitment to the job, though you sometimes get a boss that hates managing anything, so takes your email as a sign that you will be a needy bitch, and into the trash your application goes.

That's what my boss told me when I came to recommend an applicant that made sure to stop by just to say how much he appreciated being considered. Made me happy I was hired by a recruiting agency!

I count 5 numbers, but I guess I'm not a mathematician.

Excerpt from response email from Head of Legal Recruiting:

And, I owe you a HUGE apology for the way your interview was scheduled. You are correct, Recruiting Coordinator didn't send you the escort confirmation nor did she inform the security in NY that you were coming in for an interview. Both are huge mistakes that I'm sure didn't make you feel very welcome at your interview. Recruiting Coordinator apologizes as well for her error.
I feel much better about this whole thing now.

nice response...good luck with the job

still, you should apologizing for being so petty, Hobby.

really, I don't understand those responses your little problem engendered. You simply wanted to make it clear that any mix-up was on their end. It's not like you were all pissy in the email or anything. You weren't writing to me, after all.

Congrats on booking the win.
Last I could remember was at a Four Queens Classic tournament side game. Why I was sitting in that particular game, I have no idea.

Watching my first season of Survivor since the initial year. My wife went to high school with Kristina so we're hoping she makes it through some rounds. She barely scraped by tonight, made some enemies.

My intention was to refer to just e, pi and i as being the important numbers and then 0 and 1 were just there to show what the expression equated to. However, as a computer scientist, I could also say that 0 and 1 are the only important numbers.

I'm very glad things worked out for you. At the same time, there's still a case to be made for sometimes damning the party that wronged you not by pointing out their flaws, but by taking responsibility for not covering for their mistakes. Obviously, it depends on the situation.

Wookie,

For a scientist, you write with precision and clarity, so I hope you're not offended when I say that I can't figure out what you mean for perhaps the first time.

Hell, you write with clarity and precision period.

JC,

No worries.

Sometimes, you accuse someone and bring the wrath directly. Sometimes, you instead take responsibility for your own actions in a manner that an astute reader/listener would infer as an indictment of someone else. The less clout you have, the more attractive the latter looks, imo.

That's better. I think the "nots" in the first version stumped me.

I'm going to NYC for the 4th of July this year (wife's cousin getting married on the 3rd). What is the best way to see the 4th's activities and the fireworks? There will be several young children, so family friendly is imperative.

Thanks.

Dom,

How is the new job going at Top Rank Boxers?
02-17-2011 , 01:58 PM
pretty cool...learning all my boxers! Saturday night I'm in the production truck for the Monriel-Donaire championship fight at Mandalay Bay...should be fun. The people I work with are all cool and professional and there might be a future here.

So, I'm watching a talk show and they're interviewing this Hollywood actor who comes out and is wearing...Ugg boots. Is this a thing on the West Coast where men wear Uggs? West Coast boys, please chime in. This could greatly affect my decision to move to the West Coast.

For those that don't know, these are Uggs:

02-17-2011 , 03:46 PM
It's an ugg-pedimic!

Last edited by HobbyHorse; 02-17-2011 at 03:52 PM. Reason: Those boots are so ugly...how can Tom Brady even hold his head up wearing those?

i think ive seen a guy wearing those maybe once or twice...definitely not common, at least in burbank/glendale...no idea what the hollywood types wear...
02-17-2011 , 03:50 PM
3d, if your girlfriend bought you a pair of Uggs, would you wear them...in public?
