I've bull-rushed through the first 6 episodes. So perfect. I love Brother Jerry. And Hank is so menacing. Madchen Amick might just be the most beautiful girl who has ever lived.

Waldo the Minah Bird has made his first appearance.

One thing I'm amazed at while viewing this for the 4th or fifth time, is how well they juggle the different story lines and how they all tie together.

Some things I've noticed on this viewing that I otherwise hadn't previously:

The performances are universally great. Not just by Kyle MacClachan, Ray Wise, and Sheryl Lee, but everyone. Especially Dana Ashbrook as Bobby. On my first viewing all those years ago, I had thought he over-acted some, but it's obvious now that that's how he was directed. If James Marshall's James is supposed to be James Dean, Ashbrook's Bobby is Vic Morrow. And his performance has true style, menace and humor. Really top notch.

Madchen Amick, Jack Nance, James Marshall, Lara Flynn Boyle and Richard Beymer are also exceptional.

Now, the only weak link among the acting that I can see is Michael Ontkean as Sheriff Truman. I still think he's perfectly cast, but he's a bit of s stiff, vanilla actor. And that's why he's perfectly cast.

thread must be resurrected

for whatever reason I decided to watch Twin Peaks again, was a very long time ago that I saw it.

Audrey in HD is reason enough to do so

Just watched both seasons in under a week and had to post my thoughts:

This is easily among my favourite shows of all time. I'm shocked that this was on ABC almost 25 years ago (on TV even just before I was born!) and how well it holds up. It was great to watch it on netflix continuously. I couldn't imagine waiting a week between episodes.

The pilot was probably the best TV episode I've ever seen. Sucked me in from the first minute and was brilliant the whole way through.

Season 2 could have been trimmed by 5 episodes or so - and it would have been great to have Lynch directing every episode - but it was still a masterpiece nonetheless.

I went back and googled most of the actor/actresses - its amazing how many of their careers completely tanked after the show. Lara Fynn Boyle's trajectory was especially depressing :/

And how about Lelands death scene? One of the greatest TV scenes ever, IMO.

Nothing wrong with that. You either really get this show or you don't. I don't think there's much in the middle here.

I remember watching it during its first run...it was a phenomenon. No one had ever before seen anything like it on TV. Waiting a week between episodes was torture.

I think my favorite bit was the 2nd season's first episode. We had waited almost a year to see who had shot Cooper and if he was okay, and you get that ridiculous, old porter coming in and out of the room, unaware Cooper is potentially dying. It was maddening but hilarious at the same time.

And the final shot of the show - Dale Cooper, possessed, staring at the mirror...chanting "how's Annie" over and over. Absolutely chilling. It still unnerves me.

TV news of the year: Twin Peaks complete series plus Fire Walk With Me on Blu-Ray in July. Will include 90+ minutes of deleted scenes from the film plus tons of other special features including, it seems, some new stuff with the actors in-character.

Just watched the first episode for the first time.

Very very very very sad. I have two daughters and one not much younger. And, even aside from that, this kind of thing gets to me in movies/tv.

I watched it for the first time three years ago. Was absolutely captivated from the first second on. 2nd season gets a little boring though, but it's worth it to make it to the end. Still probably my favorite tv show ever, although clearly flawed.. I just love the Twin Peaks universe with all its weird supernatural quirks and mysteries.
