Re: TV: what have you been watching?

Ted Bundy Tapes was good, but maybe not as great as all the hype promised.

Hollywood always makes serial killers seem like devious Hannibal Lecter-style geniuses, but really they're mostly just incel losers who hate women.

Itís true. Same goes for criminals of all sorts, whether itís mafia, drug kingpins, etc. We are inherently drawn to the darkness but if you ever spend time with any of them you realize they are mostly opportunistic low-IQ types who usually have a chip missing, lack empathy, and are generally ****ty people. The smart ones always got screwed over one way or another growing up and have some sort of inferiority complex that makes them overcompensate to some great degree. I do feel bad for some of them but mostly I think they should be euthanized. Bundy seemed incredibly annoying; just so painfully insecure and aggrandizing

You've spent time with people like that? Are you a lawyer? Genuine question.

Bundy got busted because he was driving at night with his headlights off. Not to bright or he was so whacked out looking for a kill that he couldn't even think of something as simple as turning his headlights on. Either way I agree with you. Plus they killed during a time of no real communication between state authorities.

Re: TV: what have you been watching?

The Florida killings show how truly whacked out he was...leaves one killing spree but can’t stop himself from beginning another one a couple blocks away. He was absolutely nuts.

Glad he’s dead.

Re: TV: what have you been watching?

One thing I noticed on Bundy tapes is the Florida murder trial, they didnt even try him for the attempted murders of the girls that survived. When they read his conviction. They just had the 2 murders.

Not really. He was prowling around in his car late at night in a neighborhood where a police officer lived and the officer spooked him and Bundy tried to take off (turning off his lights to escape), but eventually he pulled over and the officer found a burglary/prowling kit in his car.

Re: TV: what have you been watching?

I thought his lights were off and that's what made the police officer suspicious.

Roma on Netflix. I didn't think I'd see a new neorealistic film in my lifetime that could be talked about with De Sica, Rossellini, and Fellini's efforts, but this film qualifies. Visually/photographically stunning and resisting romantic and melodramatic opportunities, it records the joys and travails of working-class life without flinching.

Re: TV: what have you been watching?

Watched the first episode of Russian Doll. It didn't grab me at all. Recycled groundhog day. None of the characters appealed to me.

Given that, I'm going to watch a few more episodes and give it a chance.

Re: TV: what have you been watching?

Watched ep 1 of Russian Doll. It was ok. The thing that will make this easiest to move forward with and binge is the ep was only 23 mins. I was expecfing 45. This should be a quick easy watch, even if mediocre.

Russian Doll is the early frontrunner for most overrated show of the year.

The Umbrella Academy https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1312171/

A dysfunctional family of superheroes, adopted at birth by a tyranical father, have 8 days to
get over their issues with each other and save the world from the apocalypse.
It's based on the Dark Horse comics and is bloody fantastic, I loved every minute.

Re: TV: what have you been watching?

Dirty John https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7945720/

This is based on the true story of John Meehan, a sociopathic con man who scammed, manipulated, intimidated and stole his way through life.
It focuses mainly on his relationship with Debora Newell and his insidious plan to take her for everything she had. But also flashes back through various stages of his life, charting his scumbaggery at every stage.
I knew nothing of this story until watching the series and was transfixed from start to shocking finish. The guy was a massive scumbag and this series is essential viewing for anyone who signs up for an online dating agency. A true tale of caution for the modern age.

Re: TV: what have you been watching?

Didnt like russian doll at all. Didnt laugh once, and suddenly, the last 2-3 episodes, the show goes from "comedy" to a pretty serious/sometimes dark drama. Meh.

Probably gonna download the umbrella academy from netflix and binge the whole season on the flight home next week. Robert Sheenan was so good in misfits, cant wait to see him in this.
