Yeah, HoHH was nowhere near as good as I was hoping it would be, based on reviews. It had a few good scenes and I liked the general atmosphere, but mostly I was just bored.

I don't know what it is, but there are very few critically acclaimed shows that I can really get into these days. Maniac, Westworld, Black Mirror, Stranger Things, Handmaid's Tale, etc...just don't really do it for me.

Trying to think of the last show that really hooked me and I'm having trouble coming up with anything from the last couple of years. Cobra Kai, maybe? Surely that can't be all...

Same here, D1iab. This new crop of shows just isn't moving my dial. Of those you listed, Westworld I thought was ok but somewhat overrated, and then season 2 nosedived. Thank God for Better Call Saul, it's about all I have left til GoT starts up again.

New season of Narcos comes out in a couple of weeks, so I'm looking forward to that at least. Not much else on the horizon to get too excited about.

when is Nightflyers supposed to air? That's the one I'm looking forward to.

I really enjoyed THoHH aside from the first and last episodes. It's hard to make a good horror show, and I thought they did an excellent job.

Yeah, we really like it. A lot of people don't seem to like the second season, but I think it was almost as good as the first.

Yep. Pretty weird. I like both of the stars a lot so that's a plus.

We taped Better Call Saul, so we are caught up. Definitely one of our favorites.

Can't wait for The Crown to come back.

We also just started watching Mr. Robot. We like it, but damn, I'm not sure I will stay with it. It's just soooo dark.

Our new favorite is definitely The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Superb entertainment. The cast is great. Writing great. There are a bunch of legit laugh out loud scenes. Just watched the scene with the comic with the dead dummy. Maybe I have a warped sense of humor, but man I couldn't stop laughing.

I too have trouble finding shows to get into. I'll often start shows like Norcos and Ozark only to drop out after a few episodes.

I almost gave up on Succession after a few episodes but I went back and finished it. I thought it was really great. Now I don't have a show and I'm bummed.

Handmaid's Tale is so boring. But the book was mediocre porn so whaddya expect.

Very excited for S2 of Mrs. Maisel.

I'd suggest giving Narcos another shot. I think it does get better as it goes along. It also sometimes takes me a little while to get into shows with subtitles, but if it's good enough, I don't even really notice that I'm reading them anymore. That was the case for me with both Narcos and Gomorrah (also on Netflix, and a big rec from me for anybody who likes the mafia genre).

I think you can safely drop Ozark if you weren't really feeling it after a few episodes. I don't mind it, but it's hardly top tier stuff, and if anything it just gets sillier as it goes on.

Outside of those, Detectorists is a show that kind of flew under the radar, but is a very easy watch imo.

Yeah I started Gomorrah too but didn't make it through the first season. I can reup that one as well as Narcos and also need to get back to BCS. I've watched an ep or two of Detectorists. Should try it again because I know how much people love it. Also couldn't finish the first season of Americans. Some shows you want to go back to but can't because you've forgotten the details. Instead of rewatching I just scrap it and find a new show.

Just finished two eps of Homecoming. Can't really tell if it's any good because they're doing 30 minute episodes with this one.

Detectorists is great, a real treasure!

Yep fantastic show. Honestly difficult for me to imagine anyone not liking it. A breath of fresh air.

It's on Hulu right? I will check it out next time I pick that up for a month.

Only 3 eps in and I'm hooked.

Just binged through the rest of Narcos: Mexico.
For a spin-off it's every bit as good as the original Narcos shows.

Am on episode 3 after you posted about it - thx, am definitely enjoying it a lot - as you are my go-to guy when it comes to movie/tv suggestions
